Mushrooms, like many other foods come in various sorts.
Dark mushrooms are large and almost black while button mushrooms are white and smaller.
To clean mushrooms, simply soak them in a little salted water and rinse off after about 20 minutes.
To tone down the taste, add a little vinegar to the salted water.
Dry them off with a kitchen towel and put them in a container with beaten egg and a little milk.
From there, roll them in flour or crumbs and fry them in a pan with a little cooking oil.
To tone down the taste, add some spice to the flour or crumbs.
Try a different variety of mushroom until you find the one that you like

1/ Cleaning
soak them in a salted water for 20 minutes to clean the dirt.
Rinse before cooking.
Unless you buy white button mushroom, you don't need to get mushrooms sandy white. For some kind of mushrooms like mitake, the mushy color is natural
2/ eating raw
try use garlic (fry to golden brown if you cannot take raw garlic; garlic is good to take out the raw odour), olive oil and vinegar dressing (or Baslmic vinegar). you can also use lemon or lime juice
3/ eating cooked - pan fry
fry ginger, shallot and garlic until aroma comes out. Then put the mushrooms in. Add salt , white pepper and a little chicken or vegatable broth (don't add too much as mushrooms would release water or else it would be too watery. COVER with lid for 1 minute (it is an important procedure). The raw odour should be gone
4/ eating cooked - boil
add a few pc of ginger and slices of lemon, a little olive oil and salt to water. Bring it to boil. Add mushroom and cover with lid. Turn off the fire when it comes to boil and just let it stand for another 2-3 minutes. Take the mushrooms out to add to other dishes (that wouldn't need much further cooking) or as side dishes. You may also use the same boiled water for potato and other vege after you have taken out the mushroom.
Cooking if not OVER-cooking will leave most of the nutrients there.

never wash a mushroom ,wipe it as well as you can with a cloth or if you like tedious jobs, peel them by reaching under the cap with a small paring knife and pulling the skin up and toward the middle.
Im confused, you appear to not like anything about mushrooms yet you are trying so hard to,maybe mushrooms are not your thing.
Im in love with mushrooms ,big little in between round, flat, skinny, fat . the wild nutty musky fungusy flavor of them is special to me, if I was as squemish about them as you seem to be I wouldnt force myself to eat them.
The best way to cook mushrooms is any moist method where the nutrients are left in the broth made by the mushroom.i.e. soups. even when i put them in soup I sweat them a litttle to make them give their juice and flavor.(also I dont like the rubbery texture of boiled or roasted mushrooms.) then i add them to the soup.
to sweat mushrooms I heat a little butter in a shallow pan,put my sliced shrooms in and cook untill they are sitting in their juice.
My favorite way to eat shrooms is.
sliced shrooms( you can also chop as fine as you like)
3 tbs grated onion
2 crushed and minced garlic cloves
thyme
salt
pepper
2tbs butter
cook these together untill done put in a bowl and eat with toast points.if you chop the shrooms you end up with a spread that can be used on crackers or crusty bread.serve warm.

Why even bother using them? Let the people who love the taste and smell eat them. You are so silly, get rid of all your mushrooms now! Send them to me!!!!
