Don't play "God" - be a servant of all (not a doormat, please!)

The simplest way to serve others is to use the skills that you have to help those around you who are in need. Be kind and thoughful in your thought, word and deed.Treat people the way that you would want to be treated. Give your time to someone who has a need; if they are lonely, stop and pay a visit, if they are feeling down, build them up with a positive thought; if they are unable to do something and you have the skill required to do it; help if you are able to do so. Give a little time, a little thought, a simple smile, a bit of kindness; pray for them and the good will come back to you.

Simple :) Follow your passion. Find ways to serve that speak to your heart. Example: After my grandmother passed away, I was moved to do something to give back to the hospice organization that had allowed her to spend her last months in the comfort of her home surrounded by family, rather than dying in a hospital. I chose a group to volunteer with that combined that along with my love of flowers. It's called Friends with Flowers. They reuse flowers donated after weddings or other events and make arrangements for hospice patients. Boom: combine what you love, with what you are passionate about or want to change in the world. That is the secret to serving others successfully. Do what you love, but do it in a way that makes a difference in the world. I also like to switch up what type of volunteer work I am doing every year or so, to stay fresh and give my routine some variety. You can find volunteer opportunities in your area according to what interests you here:

Wishing you peace and blessings.

The world is a garden, it is built for us to browse and explore. Busy-ness is the enemy of serenity. The truest service is to experience joyfully the gits of creation. That takes calm and repose. A moment of unhurried breath is a gateway to peace for mankind.

If you were driving around and looking for food, you probably wouldn't go to a restaurant that looked empty--you'd conclude the food was no good. You'd go where there were lots of people. If there were two restaurants called "Haste" and "Calm," almost everyone in the world would be in "Haste," and "Calm" would be pretty empty. Nobody goes there because it doesn't look popular. So by simply being calm, you do great service: you attract more people to the restaurant with better food.

Understand their weakness.
In so doing, kindness will flow.
Through kindness, love will flourish.
Then the act of serving others is fulfilled.

Minding ones own business is probably the lowest common denominator in the service of others

Remember, if you ever need a helping hand you will find one at the end of every arm. As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands... One for helping yourself, and one for helping others. God measures his mercy to you that way you measure it to others. Simple.

Keep alert for opportunities. Opening a door, or helping carry a package or smiling and telling someone that they look nice today...it's easy and frequent if your eyes are open!
