My cat's left cheek has a gash on it, but he's acting perfectly fine so no one is worrying. He smelt really bad, so I just kinda thought that it might be his cut, and it was. It smells so horrible.

Your cat has a rather serious infection and needs to go to the vet ASAP before he gets blood poisoning.

If you had a smelly gash on your cheek, wouldn't you go to a doctor? Do your cat a kindness and take him to a vet asap.He could very well die from infection. In the meantime, clean out the cut with peroxide and put some Neosporin on it.The cat will need oral antibiotics to clear up the infection. If the cat is fighting and getting abscesses, then you need to get him neutered as this will stop,or at least cut down on his fighting. If you won't take him to the vet, then you should surrender him to a shelter, where he will get proper care.NOT taking him to a vet is called cruelty to animals!

If the cat's cheek is cut you need to take it to the vet because it will most likely get infected without antibiotics. Also, if the cut smells that bad- it most likely is already infected and can lead to a life-threatening infection.

If a cut smells it's infected. The cat needs to see a vet right away for antibiotics. This could become very serious if left unattended.

Yikes! When cat's don't heal right away then the wounds tend to get infected, especially on the face where they can't easily clean their wound. Please take your cat to the vet to get a course of antibiotics and they will probably give you something to help keep it clean - if it's stinky there is probably pus. Don't try to squeeze it out yourself, and if you need to wipe it make sure you use gloves - it's nasty stuff. It's not good to put peroxide on it, although lots of people think it is. 50/50 peroxide with water is ok, but an antibiotic wash is better to clean it with, or even straight water. On the face it will be easier to keep antibiotic ointment on there without the kitty licking it off :)

best wishes,
Gina

It is abscessed (infected). He needs to go to the vet. In the meantime, you need to get some hydrogen peroxide on it to try and draw some of the infection out BUT be careful since it is on his face. Because of the brain being so close he needs to be taken as soon as possible. Good luck.

The cut is infeted. Your cat may act fine now but sooner or later you will need an antibiotic. See a vet.
