Can someone please tell me why our young people, and I mean alot of them are "real" young people, use such awful, foul, and offensive language these days? I am offended and ashamed of the way alot of the younger generation use slang terminology these days. What happened to respect? It's just shocking to hear kids these days talk about anything because the only way they seem to can communicate is in slang language. What a shame! What happen to self respect, and respect for others?

i think not only is that scary but that they can barely function without reverting into the whole "slang" speak............and that is within the work place and their professional life.........at that point they either stay within the flipping burgers realm or grow up and move on................

regards and still not above flipping a finger across my child's mouth as a gentle reminder that speaking in that manner WILL not be tolerated.......

You said it... It all comes down to respect. I work in a elementary school and believe me I see a lack of respect daily. I think it starts at home with the little ones seeing their older brothers and sisters and then carries on at school with friends. There is a lack of respect for professionals these days. Teachers, doctors, etc. were people we considered professionals and treated them that way. Now they get the same treatment that we give someone working in the lower paid jobs. It is really sad. Television doesn't help either with all the foul language celebrities use. People our kids look up to. Some movies use bad language in every situation. Comedians use bad language to get a laugh. It just goes on and on, where do we go from here?

I think a lot has to do with Television, the Video games they play, And even cartoons, I notice My 8 year old Grandson is allowed to watch these cartoons, They have awful language and I can't believe what is accepted these days.

So of course they see it as acceptable, Parent's often swear or fight in front of Children, And think they do not notice, Believe me those little minds are like sponges, This has to start at home. When they are young, Even if you are watching a tv show you like that would not be appr for them, Turn it off, In the long Run. You would be glad you did.

Foul language is more widely acceptable in the media and parents don't seem to really care just as long as you don't say the "really bad words." Society on a whole is lacking in good manners. There are those few of us who cringe when we hear a curse word then there are those who don't even flinch when a young child or teen says something that would have gotten most of us slapped in the mouth when we were their age. So sad.

I completely agree that the use of bad language is a sign of lack of respect for self and others. I believe adults need to be setting the standard- Are we teaching our children to be respectful? Are we modelling good language?. What is accepted in the classroom or playgrounds? No good comes from a foul mouth.

do no longer watch Hostel then - that grow to be in simple terms crammed with gratuitous swearing. it form of feels Hollywood is getting extraordinarily foul mouthed those days. individually I swear plenty in my very own life and think of approximately there is not any choose for it in maximum circumstances in videos. Arguments, surprising scenes etc are large yet "solid f*cking morning" isn't. this is as though all videos attempt to beat South Park those days (besides the reality that the South Park action picture does element out that that's in some techniques perverse that violence is greater proper than undesirable language). i think of a few genres are cleanser than others - animation, sci-fi, fantasy, action picture noir, musicals and black comedies are often much less foul-mouthed. additionally the swearing is a cutting-edge phenomenon - there are 1000's of excellen classics devoid of swearing in any respect.

Well, if the movies they watch have in, and the TV shows too, some parents by their example do, and yours play with them, or watch or hear.. it is by example. If it isn't appropriate for our youth or children then it shouldn't be for the adults.. Yes, you read that right.. We need to realize every action we make has a cause and affect on the lives around us and our community.
Respect left years ago.. When we decided that life wasn't important to preserve, by choice.. then we told kids not to kill. and, they weren't understood for doing so.. The real message they are getting , is the message (meta message)that we do.. not as i say , instead of as I do.. not the other way around.. We do have free agency to chose our life course, but, that life course affects more than one person in the end.. sometimes world wide..

I hate to say it, because I am an aspiring actress and love to defend my craft, but in this case, it's true: often the media encourages such talk.

Look at the movies and television shows today and watch how the youth are speaking. Really, it's not pretty. And that's only part of it.

Kids and teens are always trying to seem more and more like adults. Always trying to grow up faster, wear makeup, drive, get a job, get into a relationship, have kids. Stuff like this is what all kids and teens look forward to. And to accelerate their growth, acting like an adult is only natural.

And cussing is often a form of acting like an adult. To them it seems cool...to us, it's horrifyingly disgusting. Perhaps if parents corrected their children and used moderates discipline, things wouldn't be where they are today. *sigh*

But alas, the kids of today are the adults of tomorrow. If only the adults of today had realized that...yesterday.

They learned it somewhere: home, peers, t.v., music
Teach 5th , It really gets old. However, most kids at school are respectful, if they cuss, you can tell from look on face, it honestly slipped out. I always give them 1 warning ( of course I talk to them about appropriate school language). So many can talk that way at home or do with friends it is just a part of their language. After 1 mistake, that's it, they get wrote up and send to Dean of Students.

Because they're not corrected. The parents don't have control over them and the authorities can't do anything to the "young offenders". Oh dear...don't get me going! I think it's time we took back our world. The way parents allow their kids to behave is scandalous. Kids should be reprimanded more severely.

Hmmm...so Mr. Choas, "it's the intellect behind those words that counts" you say?? I've spent years (35 to be exact) in the construction industry working near and with foul mouthed goober spitting slobs. Their usual lunch box conversation consists of something like the following and I'll bleep and paraphrase as I go: Hey man, what the ol'lady put in your bag dude? Answer: I got me another F-ing PBJ what an M-effer of a day this will be. Hey by the way! Speaking of F-ing, the ol'lady is on the bleep again and I didn't get it last night. Comment: What the F* take it from her anyway you M-effer! Great idea a** h*** thanks for the f-ing suggestion! Looks like it will be an f-ing great day after all!
Now folks.....that same day I take my wife and kids to McDonald's and get to hear punk kids spewing similar garbage in the cubicle next to me as we eat our fries. How should I react? Oh how sweet these kids are to teach my children new words? No..I say shut the garbage language up or I'll get you tossed out of the restaurant for disturbing the peace! As for the foul mouthed idiots that I must work closely with from time to time. I've never ever see a single sign that they had any other intelligence besides pounding nails spitting goobers, scratching crotch, and cussing!
People who talk that way are complete idiots and self centered creeps! As are those who think the cusser's have any intelligence worth noting!
