Why a cross? Assuming that he actually existed, why couldn't have he been killed another way? They could have just hung him from a building and thrown rocks at him, or tied him up to a tree and made hundreds of incisions into him until he bled to death.

To me, the bible is as equally important as dungeons and dragons is. They are fairy tales that I have no interest in.

Dr. Larry, I am glad that you compare me to a little boy who asks lots of questions. When it comes to religion, I kind of am a little by who needs to ask silly questions to learn things. I am sorry that I don't allow 90% of my brain capacity to be filled with religious nonsense. I expand my mind with useful knowledge, rather than the anally inseminated crap that you have grown to believe. Thanks for looking out for me though.

no that is why God allowed it to happen. But he didn't actually die. He went on preaching in other lands. The Original Christian Essenes have the real story. He was in a mystic trance on the cross. He got up out of the cave with the help of others and some herbs and went on. That is why they didn't break his legs on the cross as the did back then. Because he so called died so quickly. This technique of mystic trance where all life in the body is gone is done by great yogis. There is a story in the Vedas with a similar situation. Hari das Takura.

If he's really God's favor, which I like to believe Jesus is, I dont believe that God would belittled him by being killed by Pontius Pilatus.
If Jesus is supposed to be greater than Moses why should Jesus be killed by Pontius Pilatus yet Moses as God's favor been saved (in the story) from Ramses and did show a miracle to disgrace Ramses. God's favor should win, otherwise we all lose.
There is something odd for my limited brain to think abt the cross part; seems just to find excuse to force people to confess thru the priests who were ruler's agent.
Maybe I am just suspicious.
That way the rulers can control their people.
I know I am not alone, I think Luther or Calvin I dont know which one rebelled / protested against it as well; Some christians dont confess thru priests.
I know my brain can go wild which may harm my life so
I just simply need to have a SUPERIOR WHO can do anything including punishing very hard which nothing can be compared with.
I dont mind to believe that I have "SOMEONE" Who Can Give enormous Rewards and Punishments to me. It's quite challenging. But I dont want to know how that one looks like because that would limit my action.
So I refuse to accept Jesus was beaten (punished and lose) by Pontius Pilatus.

Do some studying and you will find out that it was the form of capital punishment at that time, that is why it was a cross, many people were crucified and never made it to even the top 10 of popularity so I do not think it was the way he died, but rather the reason he died and the way he was risen back from the grave.

They probably didn't hang him on a "cross" -- wood's not easy to come by in that part of the world -- but probably just nailed him to a 'tree' or wooden pole. The same pole they'd killed other people on.
Jesus was just one more criminal executed by the government (The Romans executed just a few more people than Texas does every year). It's easy to die, everyone dies.
In the days after his death, the friends who knew he was dead all hid away, convinced THEY would be executed next.
What was amazing is he was resurrected. He arose from the dead. His friends saw him. Strangers saw him. People who had no idea who he was, saw him.
Not many people knew who he was when he died. Hundreds of people saw him when he was alive again -- THAT'S why his existence was so well known.
Those people told other people what they had witnessed. They told the story of the risen Christ, and they told people, who told people.
If it wasn't true, the myth would be just like Zeus or Isis.
But Christ died, he was resurrected, and he will come again.
It's that simple.
Godspeed.

Because the Bible says in Isaiah that, "cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree". He was cursed for man so that man could be redeemed.
Also it was the worst way to die. The entire body is stretched out and the lungs are stretched with it. The person basically suffocates. They hang by their hands and to breathe they lift themselves up by their feet. With nails in those parts of the body it was extremely painful.
And it also symbolizes that he gave his life. When he decided to stop lifting himself up to breathe he gave up his life. No one beat him to death, no one cut off his head. He made the decison to die.
Plus it's what the Jews asked for when Pilate asked what to do with him.
That is a really short summary of some of the important points.

B/c they got their ideas from other religions/philosophies. Hanging on a tree was a common death for each religions' Christ (that was the name used by the different religions of the time). The hanging on a cross (made by a tree and common form of death sentence) fit into their version.
Also, poor Judas got a bad deal out of doing what he was supposed to do.

Crucifixion was the way people were put to death back then and they did make many incisions in him and he did bleed to death. You must not know much about the Bible.

He did exist he is even mentioned in Roman history. And yes he would be just as popular, look at Muhammad, why not a cross. If he had been hung, or pulled apart by chariot you would still be here today asking why he had to die that way.

The cross, was the worst way to day.. If people would have thrown rocks on him then, he would have been killed by man. but Jesus was killed because of our sin... that is why the cross is importan.. no one can take responciblity for killing him .... and "what If's" doesn't really help. He died . The bible also mad professies about how he would die too....
