Many Christians claim the Bible is perfectly clear. Nonsense. If that's true, why do we have 22,000 plus Protestant denominations all teaching different things from the same Bible?
I love the Scriptures and read regularly, but much of it is hard to understand and I have no knowledge of the original Greek which helps scholars in their exegesis.
But of course, this is why God gave the Holy Spirit to guide the Church in its interpretation of Scripture. Because fallible and imperfect men will always disagree about what they read. The Church provides the final authority on matters of Scripture. Only the Church infallibly interprets the Bible.

While I do understand the most of it, and by far, more than I did 20 years ago, there are things that are beyond me. It does not embarrass me in any way to tell you that I still have unanswered questions.
When I see a post on this forum in an area that I fail to understand, I simply make no reply.
I can not say this enough, it is not enough to read the Bible, you must study it.

God wrote the first five books of the Bible as "science" books. From the book of Joshua until the end of the Old Testament God wrote as "history" books. Mankind mistranslated and mislabeled the whole Bible a "religious" book. A new scientific discovery about God will soon straighten all this out.

I didn't understand much of it until I became a born-again, adopted child of the King. Now, when I ask the Lord to open up a verse He wants me to understand, it's all right there in front of me as clear as a bell.
He is SO good!!

Not all of it, but I am still working on it. I have been at it a number of years now, but it is slow going. I am an atheist, but I find the study enjoyable and fascinating to a degree. I do it by subject. Saturday - Sunday Sabbath, for example.

The Holy Spirit reveals to me the meaning and I love quoting Scripture in my head when I need strength, encouragement, happiness, etc.

I understand more of it when I earnestly seek to understand it and ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate it's meaning to me.
