The first two answers above are largely correct, but cancer cells do not divide "faster" than normal cells. They divide more often than most normal cells, so more of them are going through mitosis or cell division than most body cells. Cancer cells divide without any control mechanisms halting their growth as with normal cells. The trouble with chemotherapy that affects dividing cells is that it is not specific for just the cancer cells. Other cells that are constantly dividing -such a new white blood cells - are also hit by the drugs. Interrupting the spindle process in cell division kills the two daughter cells. That is what we want with the cancer cells, but we don't like hurting good cells at the same time. It's a real balancing act, believe me. RC MD Hem/Onc doc

Spindle fibers are created during cellular reproduction, mitosis as the support structures for the cell during cellular division. The lack of these spindle fibers would cause the cell to collapse upon itself, and therefore would kill any rapidly dividing cells, such as cancer.

cancer is basically when cells rapidly divide without any control
when a cell divides, it uses spindle fibres to seperate the two sets of chromosomes so that each new cell has its own set
if you disrupt the spindle fibres, basically cells can't divide anymore because ur disrupting the mitosis process

Day One - all happening in the first day (division of time). 1.Moment of creation, creation of all things (this doesn't have to indicate instantly. Obviously it is taking billions of years). 2.Light (energy) 3.Separation of light from the darkness - and the first indication that the planet is rotating (day and night cycle produced). Day Two 4.Formation of Earth's atmosphere, separating the water into two parts: (a) oceanic and subterranean water (b) atmospheric water. Day Three 5.Dry land and oceans. 6.System to water the entire land surface using subterranean waters (involving springs or mist, or both). 7.Vegetation, seed-bearing plants, trees that bear fruit. 8.Garden of Eden (probably). Day Four 9.Sun 10.Moon - complete with established orbit so as to mark passage of time (months, seasons, and years). (some scientists now believe the earth was "knocked off" the earth so the earth had to come first). 11.Stars and other planets. (as the atmosphere cleared other heavenly bodies became visible) Day Five 12.Water creatures of all kinds. (All that had “the breath of life” were vegetarian.) 13.Birds (all vegetarian). Day Six 14.Land animals (all vegetarian): (a) creatures that move close to the ground (small animals), (b) large animals, and (c) animals of use to man as livestock. 15.Man. 16.Woman (saving the best for last?).
