Yes $15,000 is more than worth it for a collection agency. They will take people to court for as little as a couple hundred dollars.
This is because they can claim court and attorney costs. On 15,000 you can expect that to easily add another few thousand dollars.

ABSOLUTELY! However if the creditor does not know where the defendant is employed (to place a wage garnishment), the defendant does not own any property (to place a lien on), or the creditor does not have the defendants personal information IE checking account numbers (to do a bank levy), it might not be anything except a civil judgment on paper. BUT I take people to court for a lot less than that!!

Most certainly. Many law firms throughout the nation specialize in these types of suits. They will file hundreds at a time from less than a thousand to large balances such as yours.
Your best bet is to set up a payment plan and/or offer a reasonable settlement to avoid a suit all together.

Absolutely. Imagine if 10 people have $15,000 debt and don't pay. Just add it up and see how much you can come up with.
They take you to court for less than $2000

Well, yeah. If someone owed you 15 thousand dollars, you would take them to court quick.

Definitely. People go to court every day for much smaller debts.

Certainly. The real question is, is it worth it? Can the debtor pay the debt, even over time?
