The biblical verse to which you're referring speaks of the worship of God's people. The English term "jealous," when used of people is normally a sin. The Hebrew term simply means that there is only one true God, and He is deserving of all the worship His people have to give. That's what He's jealous of, so to speak. Don't be thrown off by the English term "jealous." In God's desiring His rightful praise, He commits no sin.

If a husband sees another man flirting with his wife, he is right to be jealous, for only he has the right to flirt with his wife. This type of jealousy is not sinful. Rather, it is entirely appropriate. Being jealous for something that belongs to you is good and appropriate. Jealousy is a sin when it is a desire for something that does not belong to you. Worship, praise, honor, and adoration belong to God alone, for only He is truly worthy of it. Therefore, God is rightly jealous when worship, praise, honor, or adoration is given to idols.

If we choose to believe in Man rather than God, that makes Him jealous! Also, if we worship anyone or anything and NOT God, or put anyone or anything BEFORE God as far as priorities...that makes Him jealous! Lovers of sin instead of Lovers of God...makes Him jealous....I think that sums it up!!

"For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:"
Exodus 34:14
God demands allegiance - if you don't dedicate everything in your life to an invisible deity who doesn't talk back and who is as easy to not believe in as anything, and who is competed with by things we can actually see and feel - not to mention the thousand religions to confuse everyone - you go to Hell, get tortured and die - and then, while you're there, Christians will be screaming down at you, "You wanted this!!!!"

Jealousy implies weakness, need, and serious issues with personal confidence and self worth.
A jealous god is a contradiction, but then again considering you are adressing the christian god, that goes without saying.

Jealousy is weakness. I find it ironic "god" gets jealous, but then again, he's probably mad many of us have figured out this: http://zeitgeistmovie.com
Jesus, is a astrotheological-hybrid of the 3000BC egyptian sun god Horus, along with about 25 other Gods from civilizations spanning from 3500BC to 700AD..
All the same traits, Dec 25 birth, 3 kings followed a star to adorn him, 3 days dead, crucifixion, rising from the dead, miracles, started ministry at 30, virgin mother, 12 apostles, and so forth.
The Truth sucks, because it hurts so many otherwise well intentioned people.

God has created the Universe, God is running the Universe. God will destroy the Universe. God is the Origin of Universe. God is the Destination of Universe. Spirit can neither be created nor be destroyed. It moves from one body to another. Your body dies, not spirit. Your spirit gets new body after death, based upon your actions in this life. Your target is to make your spirit pure, so that it can merge in Super Spirit (God). Remember wherever there is Happiness in Life, there will be Sorrow. To get Happiness, you must master Sorrow.
