The Sun and the Moon, it was the Lunar patterns that gave us the original calender. The Stars were initial navigational tool and there patterns helped map the seasonal activity.
To both the nomad and the early developers of agriculture, it was the constant that provided them with higher information about their world.
It must be over 40 years since the 1st lunar exploration and the heavens are still slowly revealing their secrets.
My God/dess is definately a Pagan one.

Interesting idea. When you have children and you look at the world through their eyes, you start to feel the wonderment at everything from the sun, moon and stars to grass, flowers and creepy crawlies. I should think early pagans were astounded at all the things around them that they could not explain. Early American Indians used to worship all sorts of natural things like wind and rain. I think its beautiful. And I think they knew that it was created somehow but something - the earth is so intricate and amazing that it was natural to assume something supreme created it. I don't think it would just be the sun though - everything!

Or is it because of this:
Once upon a time every one of us lay in bliss, innocence, unknowing and without guilt or sin. We felt the love of a great Someone who was beyond our understanding. We felt the Someone care for us, nurture & nourish us. The great Someone who loved us so much was our whole environment without which we could not survive, without which we could never have come into being. The great Someone who loved us was also our creator.
We spent an eternity in this place of bliss, love & innocence before being ejected into another world with hard surfaces, light which was too bright for our eyes. A world of harshness and brashness. Our bodies ached in our struggle into it, then there was the struggle to breathe the cold gases of the air. And the Someone who loved us and nourished us in our blissful environment was torn away, no longer close.
We were no longer in the womb. We had been born.

i think its because of humans fear of death and the unknown. same reason we have ufo's,vampires, werewolves, loch ness monster, astrology, tarot cards, palm reading etc etc. people see or hear something thats outside their realm of either intelligence or understanding so they attribute it to little green men,el chupecabra or an invisible man who created everything in the universe in six 24hr instalments. we used to worship trees and rocks but there too many loopholes in that theory so some of us moved onto animals but that didnt really explain much so we came up with lots of gods for different areas of our curiosity but that left too many loopholes as well.then, some bright spark said we'll have just one god and everything he says is true and you cant question it,stuff like e'thing in the cosmos revolves around the earth and the earth is only 12,000 yrs old so that means dinosaurs are........? Anyway,in short us humans are an inherantly social bunch, we want to feel safe, loved and have a modicum of control over our future, alive or dead,so we invent someone to look after all that stuff for us.it prob started with the sun,but ended with s'thing alot less illuminating.

No, it is that people know that they are going to die.
So they are told at an early age that all they have to do is believe that there is a Supreme Being (somewhere) that will (somehow) cause you NOT to die, and all you have to do ...is BELIEVE THAT HE EXISTS!
What a deal!

I think that some religions personify their main diety as the sun since the sun is soooo big to us and bright and without it we would all die a horrible death!!!!
cheers

Greetings,
People Believe in God, due to various factors which are useless. People of God believe in him through their faith and trust in him.
For if you are a Christian and want to believe, Read the Bible and trust God for everything.
