It might be normal to think about it. And I don't know where you are getting the idea that people marry their h.s. sweetheart. Maybe our grandparents generation used to, but these days most people have other priorities, like college, career, etc and put marriage off till their late 20's at least.

Whoa! Hold your horses! It is wonderful that you are in love, but marriage is a far leap from where you are right now. It IS normal for most high school couples to think about marriage, how many couples actually stay together I do not know. The only couple that actually got married after dating in high school is my Aunt Lisa and her husband. But they started dating in middle school or something like that. I do not mean to be insulting or anything, are you sure your in love? If you really are in love, I am happy for you. Do not assume every dating relationship you have in high school will last forever, only the really strong and important ones do. I am not saying that you are not in love, but you are only 16. There is a lot more out there for you. Hope I helped and did not insult you too much.

I think it is normal. But as you get older you will want different things from your partner, than you do now. Dont rush into anything. Marriage is serious hard work. I would suggest being engaged for about a year before getting married too. A commitment like that can change people, slow down. Enjoy eachother and see what happens after high school.

It's normal if you are 16. I freuqently had myself married and was naming my children with each guy I fell for -- this went on for years. It's just part of being very young and inexperienced. Enjoy it but don't take it too seriously. You have a lot of living yet to do and you will change hugely in the next five years. Many, many good things are coming your way!

Getting married is a big step. If you love each other your love won't die I can assure you. 16 is young for marriage it's ok to think about it maybe a promise ring is appropriate for this age. Marriage will come in time. Just give it a second thought. When you fall in love in high school it will never die. Wait a couple more years.

You are very young and idealistic, having no real knowledge of what it takes to be married or even to be in a long term responsible, mature relationship. So, yes, I'd say looking at things through rose colored glasses as the young and inexperienced tend to do, it is very normal for you to be thinking of marriage, just not very realistic.

Wait and give it sometime. You are both very young. Go to college first. If you are truly in Love, it will last.
My husband and I were High School Sweet Hearts, we dated for seven years before we got married. Next year we will celebrate our sixteenth wedding aniversary.....
Good Luck. Live Life to the Fullest and Enjoy Every Minute Of It.....

Sloooowwwww down!!!! When I was 16 I was in love. Then again at 17 and 18. Got married, got divorced. In love at 25 again and again at 30. You think you are, but you have no idea. Take it slow. You have your whole life ahead of you!!

Think that it is very normal at your age to be thinking about such things. Sad fact of live is that the odds of it actually happening are very very low. But that is what makes life so much fun, we can dream and fall in love many times throughout this life before actually settling with our mates.
