Hmmm
Mirko is not an "ultimate fighter", he's an MMA fighter. "Ultimate fighter" is just the brand name of the UFC.
To answer your question, no, there is no shame to losing to good fighters, just like Gonzaga and Congo, those guys are beasts!
You have to give Mirko a break, he's still not used to the Octagon, and the elbows, not to mention they only gave him 4 MONTHS!! to recuperate, that's no enough considering the previous fight ended in a knockout.
I still feel Mirko is a good fighter, but I kinda was glad Gonzaga knocked him out the way he did, because Mirko refused to touch gloves with him!! that's bad sportmanship, so Gonzaga hopefully taught him some respect.
Congo is a HUGE muay thai guy, and Cro cop refused to take him to the ground, BIG MISTAKE, considering Congo out-striked him.
I still root for Mirko, as long as he touches his opponents gloves :) to get respect, give respect.

"Frank the Tank" is wrong about one thing. Cro Cop DID take Kongo to the ground! Cro Cop dominated the first round! However I think the problem is that Cro Cop's lose to Gonzaga messed with his head. Cro Cop seemed to lose confidence the more he realized that Kongo wasn't going to be a "walk over". It almost seemed like Cro Cop gave up as the rounds continued!
Personally I think the lack of confidence is Cro Cop's problem! Also he has to get used to the UFC cage and rules.

Did you actually watch the fight?
see how he's almost stalking the guy in the first round then he sort of backs off?....he broke some ribs...as revealed in the post fight wrap up later on....to say he's 'washed up' is an understatement.....he fought for two rounds where most of the 'internet tough guys' on here would have gone home crying
oh and the guy has over 100 pro fights....who else can even possibly say that

Mirko Cro Cop was a very good fighter but he has no ground game and although he has great power in his kick, he is predictable. He need to work on his punching power and his ground game if he wish to be champion. Otherwise, he will always beat the B type fighter but will lose to the A type fighter.

He has learned that this is not Pride, and although he still has one the most powerful left legs anywhere, it is not impossible to beat him down by any means. I'm afraid once you have been virtually unbeaten for many of fights then you get beat like so many. Arlovski, Franklin ,Ortiz ,Sylvia,Diaz, and many more. Only the true champions come back Couture,Liddell,St-Pierre,Penn and i don't think cro crop has that in him.

they'll use him, i believe he had something like a 8 fight deal,
probably relegated to a "and his opponent, is..." status.
haven't been surprised, saw him against feodor...neither looked good....randleman--got his butt knocked out....
I would look for cro-cop to be the test to see if new guys are
going to the next level...

He'll be back.
By the looks on his face, he didn't look too comfortable on that ring. I'm hoping that he'll make some big chnages on the next match.

"To answer your question, no, there is no shame to losing to good fighters, just like Gonzaga and Congo, those guys are beasts!"
There is amazing shame in losing to Kongo and to Gonzaga in that he is not nearly the talent CC is. CC is the same guy that took it to Fedor and Nog - beat the snot out of Silva and Yoshida...
Gonzaga is an 8-2 fighter with his biggest previous win over Carmelo Marrero and Brandon Lee Hinkle - good fighters but hardly the elite in the Heavyweight division. He was in nobodies top ten. http://fcfighter.brinkster.net/fighter.asp?FighterID=243959
Kongo is a 10-3 fighter with his biggest win a snooze fest with Assuerio Silva. He lost to both Yvel and Carmelo Marrero - again fighters in nobodies top 10. http://fcfighter.brinkster.net/fighter.asp?FighterID=244837
Nogs previous loses were to Nog (in everyone's top ten), Randleman (considered a fluke as he came back and redeemed himself), Fedor (#1) and Mark Hunt (one of the biggest names in K1 - and he was sick for the fight). http://fcfighter.brinkster.net/fighter.asp?FighterID=13956
Then he loses to relative nobodies after signing a $4M+ contract for six fights.
"Cro Cop dismissed the published terms of the contract, as he told Vecernji-list, "I wish it’s that much... that guy must have seen one extra zero. Even boxers do not get that kind of money."
http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=3039&zoneid=1
He has pretty much destroyed the 7 figure contract future for MMA for many years to come. You think the UFC will waste money on future fighters when the end up being complete failures like CC?
"You have to give Mirko a break, he's still not used to the Octagon, and the elbows, not to mention they only gave him 4 MONTHS!! to recuperate, that's no enough considering the previous fight ended in a knockout."
He had four million dollars to figure the octagon out...I have fought in both and its not that big of a difference unless you are fighting a wrestler - he was fighting a BJJ kick boxer and an over sized kick boxer - it should have made zero difference. Money doesn't talk it screams - thats too much money to not consider him a failure.
but he has several more fights on his contract - he should drop to 205 and fight Houston! (I am from Nebraska and would love to see that fight).
