If you get your driver's license in Chicago, then, in South Carolina, you will just have to take the written test to get the SC license.

yes you will have to get a south carolina drivers license. it will not be as hard as you think. you may have to take a short test which you know about the roads being a little different. i do not think you will have many problems. you seem to have common sense and you are seeing what you may face most places do it the same way. i do not think your age is going to be a factor.
as for a car i think you could pick up a car easier in south carolina and cheaper. great kid you are moving to redneck country. i hope you decide on an american made vehicle. especially a older ford. try to get a classic old ford. not that i am telling you what to do kid. think for yourself. you will probably see a lot of pick up trucks. my older son lives in mobile alabama and his wife is from north carolina. go kid i am proud of you and i do not even know you

According to the SC licensing bureau, out of state drivers do not need to be re-examined.
Also if you are over 15 1/2 there will be no restriction on your operation of a vehicle.
