Because they haven't been taught to respect anything, including themselves.

Baserunner and Cf hit the nail on the head!! American kids have big mouths and like to show off for their friends by talking crap about cops. Being the daughter of a retired cop this kind of talk would constantly tick me off, because they had NO IDEA what being a police officer is all about. As far as what kind of education they are receiving, I don't think education plays a part in their actions. I think the problem is that at home these kids are not taught things such as respect and pride, and therefore continue to spew out insults and make themselves look like idiots. The funny thing is that they think they are soooo cool! All I know is that my kids are being taught respect and they better not act like many of the teenagers in America do now!

They think it's "democracy", so they should able to do what they like.
Cops stop them to do so.
American teens not all but many dont realize that people should live in "line" in law and in rules.
They even rebel to their own parents easily , run away from home so easy, looking for freedom.
It's exactly like those in the poor side of under develop countries.
Lots of them just cant see their future.
Education?
How many of them go and finish high school? Lots of them quit after yr 10.
How many of them go to college? Lots of them dont because
Parents cant afford .
How many go to university? Who are the parents of this group?Or where they come from?
Working in restaurants, fast foods corners, 7/11 is no more as a training it's more as a must.
I cant imagine in 20 years time who will be the top dogs in this country (USA).

It all starts in the home where obviously they weren't taught how to respect the law and officers. They probably do the same to their teachers and their parents. No respect.

Because most of us have had more bad experiences with cops than good ones. All you people talking about how stupid, disrespectful, and ignorant, teenagers are, are infact what your saying about us. Firstly, teenagers feelings towards cops have nothing to do with education. You can be supersmart and hate cops. And to the seven-eleven/pot reference. Thats a good job for a teen, what do you think an adult should work there? Wheres the relevence in that. And not all teenagers smoke marijuana, and alot of adults smoke it so thats not a "teen" thing. You people keep bashing teenagers....did you come out of your mother 21?

while some cops ARE corrupt and abusive the fact is MOST american teenagers are nothing more than social conformists with big mouths and small sacs. if any of them faced a cop for real you can bet there'd be not a single donught joke. when kids act tough it's mostly to show how tough they are. they're mostly gutless weenies who do their thing in groups and SELDOM ON THEIR OWN.

it is disgusting, it's true. No respect or appreciation for a tough job. They're hated until they're needed. Where dis Steven get his figures though? 75% of parents have been in jail? I think 90% of his stats are pulled out of his butt.

75% or more of parents have been in jail. So who better for them to teach to hate than cops. They aren't going to blame themselves so the kids hate them for going to jail.
