I think that the reason that Atheism and the Theory of Evolution are commonly viewed as going hand in hand is there are so many Atheists who use that to attack Christians and then there is what I have heard referred to as the "Atheists Handbook" which from the descriptions I have heard about it seems to be a book that promotes or supports the Theory of Evolution. I have never read it but there was a video of some self proclaimed Atheist that went preaching Atheism around Salt lake to "see what the Mormons would do" and from what I saw, before his language got so bad that I turned it off, he was planning on promoting the concept of atheism using the Theory of Evolution. Things like that is where I would say that the problem you are mentioning comes from. Many Christians think trying to discredit the thing that is used against them so often will also discredit the people using it.
If you need additional evidence that shows how frequently Evolution is used as a weapon against Christians, by self proclaimed Atheists, do a search in the Religion & Spirituality section of Answers on Evolution and that should help you gain a better understanding why many Christians get the mistaken imperssion that Evolution and Atheism are one and the same.

Paul himself wrote,
1Correnthinas 1:20, 23
Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.
Nothing has changed. Evolution merely provides a new topic to argue over. Personally, I see no conflict, but then I take the Genesis story is metaphor, not science.

I believe that evolution is a reality, but I do not think as much is known about evolution as some in the field tend to portray. However, I am confident that there is no God (at least no Christian God). My disbelief in the Christian God has absolutely nothing to do with evolution. It does have to do with logic and rationality.

I am a Christian. I am not Catholic, nor have I ever been Catholic. Atheists have chosen not to believe in God or anything dealing with God. That is their choice. No body can make a person an atheist anymore than they can make someone a Christian. It's always about CHOICE.

God will soon prove to mankind that He exists through the theory of evolution.

lol evolution is the only reason life still exist's. the fact that were alive is proof of that. if we never evolved then we would die. our phisical body's would be so weak we couldnt live in even the most inhabbitable enviorments. we would die with a mild cold and have a bone structure so weak it would crack under the weight of ur skin. we evolve its the reason were alive. we evolve over millions of years to hold weight resist heat and cold become more intelligent have an immune system.

Turn the tables my friend, and examine it from our perspective. I'll say the same to you ... "I cannot understand why do they keep on attacking creation as if were them to prove it false all Christians would have no chance but to stop believing in God..."

Here we go again. Not ALL Christians believe in the same thing. You are being prejudice against us.
I believe atheism is the result of a choice. You chose not to believe. God gave us all free choice. You chose to believe in nothing.

If atheism is the result of biology, it might be difficult to explain the fact that many biologists are devout believers in God.

Their problem is that evolution shows the story in Genesis isn't true. That means the Bible isn't infallible.
It doesn't matter to atheism rather it is true or not. But it makes a big difference to them.
