I believe it will be the worst year of his career.

Depends on how things go. Mark's agreement with Ginn was that:

1. They'd give him a competitive car, especially for the Daytona 500, which he's never won.

2. Mark's schedule would be entirely up to Mark, with no pressure from Ginn to run more races or any races in particular.

So if DEI's engines continue to grenade, or DEI management makes any unwanted "suggestions" to Mark, he'll be looking for another ride or actually hanging up the helmet. I know he likes mentoring younger drivers, and he likes the Army sponsorship (it's sure more dignified than Viagra). But he's said he'll quit when it's not fun any more.

Hi Tina, I hate to see Mark Martin's career end on a bad note. I don't see him staying any longer than his contract states. Since he did not go there by choice, the gentleman that he his, will make the best of his time there and help others as best he can. It seems to me it is an unfornutate end to a great driver's career. I just hope it is not the worst year.

Go Jr.>>>>

From what I heard during the race on ABC they were talking about how Aric Amirola and Mark Martin are supposed to drive the car together until 2009, and that Martin is expected to share the car with Amirola until then, and then they will decide if Martin wants to renew his part time contract with the team. I dont know how much longer he will want to continue to race though as he has been doing it for quite a while and well to say the least I think that like other drivers he is kind of tired of racing but still loves it with all his heart.

You think it may be a bad year for Mark Martin, but I think Mark gets more satisfaction on being able to share his accumulative knowledge with younger drivers, and that could be a powerful thing, since he is able to mentor one of my new favorites. Martin Truex Jr. I think it's a good thing, and I have more respect for Mark Martin than any other driver, because he's good without being overbearing with his ego. Although I do like it when racers let their ego show in a fit of rage ( Tony Stewart walking on the track during a race, shaking his fist, Jeff Gordon shoving Matt Kenseth for bumping him off the track) Racing is intense. No time for emotions.

Mark will drive full time next year and win the championship with DEI. Junior will cry.

I think he will stay there long enough to get things going in the right direction and to bring a winning attitude to the organization. He has many qualities that a team can benefit from and he will lead them in a good direction. I'll bet he stays no longer than a year, cuz I know he wants to slow down some and enjoy his life and family.

Hi Tina,
Well officially he is only there til 2009 and he is sharing with Aric, Now it would not surprise me to see them move Aric up to prime slot if he runs well, if that happens it would be awesome to see Mark Martin become his Crew Chief.
But I have heard the Bug Eyed Dummy Biffle is looking atthe slot too, so it could go either way.

Mark keeps his word and doesn't violate contracts, so he will stay the whole year if that is what he signed for. I'm guessing stepmonster Teresa will ruin DEI soon and next year could be the last for DEI. That would make Mark's decision to leave for him.

Hi Tina!!!!
I think he will stay at DEI as long as the offer him a part time ride because I don't think any other "big" team will offer him that. I do think that DEI is going to go down the tubes in the long term though.
