Should they be scared to join because of the war

If a person doesn't want to be involved with wars, they should not join the military. The military is not a social jobs program, it's purpose is to fight and win wars (or prevent them by being willing to fight all out). As for being scared, even front line infantry soldiers in WWII had a 90% chance of surviving the war, the survival rate is much greater these days.

I was in the U.S. Army for 4 years. It was the best thing I have ever done in my life. I got to see parts of the world, I would have never seen, if I had just gone to college. If you join just for the college money, don't waste your time. I think that is the biggest mistake someone can make. If you are in the military you are constantly training to go to war. If you aren't up to it don't join.

I'm always interested in people's military stories. As for being scared, I don't think someone should join if they're scared.

Served in the US Army for 15 years; 12 in the Reserves; bewst thing I ever did. Most of my HS friends are either dead, in jail or living a crappy existence, working a minimum wage job and sucking on the welfare nipple.

Went to Iraq, went to South America during humanitarian missions in Honduras and Guatemala; went to NTC and JRTC and drank Guiness from the tap in Ireland. How cool is that?

I love the military and I would do it again if I have to. You don't have to draft me in... I will go voluntarily wherever my country needs me.

HOOAH!!!

The military isn't for everyone. If someone doesn't want to go overseas, they shouldn't join.

OUT-F**KIN'-STANDING place to go for young people out of high school who want to serve their nation, go overseas, train to be the best, and get money for college.

War is a reality every soldier faces, and it did not deter my decision one iota to join. My only regret is that I cannot serve now. I am medically disqualified (Crohn's Disease).

I don't think they have much chance of being killed. They should be thinking about "what am I fighting for?"....especially in Iraq, where a small percentage might end up cannon fodder for no good reason whatsoever.

Nothing worse than throwing your life away for nothing, or even WORSE, for some thieving weasels who are making huge war profits.

The military might be a fine career for some, but not now, with a lunatic in the White House.

I'd advise young people to boycott the military until the government learns how to use it properly.

I'd hug all of them if I could, they are doing this for us, for them for the people who need help, and some call them thugs, how disgraceful people can be.
My daughter was in the Army, she want to give back to her country, how many people can say that??? How many gave it all for us and others to keep us safe, so many, ...I'll never forget what they have done for us and others.

Kind of like wrestlers, you have to respect them but at the same time you have to wonder why would anyone join, especially when there is an illegal and criminal war going on...
