Sure, but he will still write you a ticket and ask if you have been drinking.

No, don't say that, he will likely give you a larger ticket if you do. Admit you were wrong if you were caught. Police have heard ALL of the excuses. The only thing you can do is be sincere, and admit your guilt. Remember, police are people too. They can let you off the hook with a warning, but if you are confrontational, they will slap you with more and more fines. Its all about damage control.
Keep your opinions to yourself, be an adult, and accept your fine.

Probably not a really smart thing to do.

The cop is likely to think you're being a wise-***. Cops don't like wise-asses, and if you really piss him off he may decide to see what other offenses he can write you up for, like having a non-functioning taillight, or not wearing your seatbelt, or deciding to subject you to a sobriety test, whatever.

If you actually were speeding, or even if you think you weren't, probably best to be respectful and polite to the police officer, quietly accept your speeding ticket, and go on your way.

Hahaha.
Stick to honesty.
NOT.
But...maybe.
I know a guy that was on his way to something for work, and managed to get off course--drove the wrong direction for THREE HOURS. So, he had to turn around, and went...well...a *bit* too fast. LOL.
When a police officer caught him, he should've lost his license. However, when the police officer asked "Did you know that you were speeding, son?" He was honest, and said "yes."
Turns out, the officer liked honesty--he bumped it down low enough that he wouldn't lose his license, and could continue on to work.

Trust me when I say that won't work. You may end up putting him or her on edge by the mention of throwing rocks. If you see you are being pulled over, pour a beverage between your legs, and try to whip up a tear or two about how weak your bladder is. Make sure the beverage is not green or red. Trust me on this, too.

No, no jokes!
Really bad time to talk or move fast.
Be very careful, and polite.
Do exactly as the officer says.

Then you can continue to be active in Yahoo Q&A, instead of in jail. People will miss you - ya know.

If they are anything like our state police. They'd give a ticket to their mother. Cops are like badly programed robots!

Tell him you were trying to hurry up and get to a gas station before you ran out of gas. That always works.

You can tell him, but he would not have a clue what you are talking about, and would probably write an additional ticket for "disorderly conduct".
