Spent all my life with dark brown eyes. Over the last few years the outer 1/3 has turned gray, then clear and now is becoming blue. Never heard of this and is it normal? After 50 years of knowing the color of my eyes now am in limbo. Anyone know what is going on?

Yes this is normal. The actual colour of your iris (coloured part of your eye) is probably still the exact same colour, however, but the cornea (clear part of your eye) has had some changes near the edge.

Its called an arcus (look it up on the internet) and is caused by lipids depositing on the cornea. In younger patients (less than 40) it can sometimes be a sign of high cholestrol.

Hope this helps.

It's always been my understanding that as you age, you loose some pigmentation....most children's eyes are blue (as was mine) then changed to brown....as long as you are not loosing vision, experiencing headaches, or seeing pots or squiggles, you should be ok, but once past 50, you should probably start going in for eye examinations regularly every three years or so...but as always, if you ever suspect something is wrong, check with your doctor immediatley

Mine too, my mother has inexperienced eyes, my dad, blue. I bought my dad's eyes, however at any time when I appear within the replicate they are a further color, toward inexperienced. Once, I noticed that one eye used to be a vibrant inexperienced, and the opposite blue, I used to be like "what the crap?" lol
