Maybe one won't. But I bet millions will! Even a stubborn mule will have to eventually pull the cart.

I think that getting accurate information, from whatever source is available, can help a person think about something from a different point of view. I don't think anybody will convert immediately after reading a post that conflicts with beliefs that they've held near and dear for decades, but one never knows what kind of movement can be set into motion by a single kind statement. Live and let live, yes, but if somebody asks a question and I know the answer? I guess I just like to help.

Yahoo Answers is about the exchange of information. It's just that the Religion and Spirituality section can become more of a debate forum and often decends into attacks on people's personal beliefs. Atheists and theists are both guilty of this.
I hope to clear up some misconceptions I see on R&S, but I don't know if I would actually be able to change someone's mind on a matter. By trying to prove a point to someone, even if they don't accept it, I've proved it to myself.

Hi I am a spiritualist and we dont believe in god as a being we believe that gods lives in a ll of us, even those who are not religous or have differnet religons, as we are all in effect gods children.
No you probably can't change someones opinion over night but you can give them a differnet view of things which in turn will give them something to think about, which in the long run may change there opinions on religon.

You know I`ve never thought about changing anybody. When a questions asked I answer the best I know how.Hopefully the answer will help in some way to clarify what has been asked.there are lots of questions here that are put here for the sake of argument. Then there are those that truly want an answer or want to see if others have the same opinion or why they think differently.

No, not change minds, just give some insight into the other views for those that will listen. But even that is almost impossible.
Why do those who want to convert others not get to know how their opponents think? That seems to me to be the best first move.

It is a waste. I have my beliefs, I certainly wouldn't force or even try to get anyone to agree with. In return I ask you do the same for me.
You can take the points from me, just a simple act of kindness, not much about these days lol.

i believe in free will and that we all have it.......
2 points i would like to make....
1] i would rather believe in GOD in this life and when i die i fine that there is no GOD what have i lost. if i chose to be an atheist and die to fine that there is a GOD how can i come back and relive my life? i can't. so i would lose both ways.. the joy of believing and the rewards for believing.
2] if atheists don't really believe in GOD, then why does the word atheist have anything to do with GOD?
so i fine it much more rewarding in believing in GOD.
HAVE BLESSED DAY

I wouldn't like to class myself atheist or christian. I like to bridge the gap between christian and atheist minds as far as understanding goes. but i think mainly i focus on how atheists feel towards Christians because I've found a lot of questions regarding the difference in christian and atheist thinking.
don't believe in a one sided focus. We all need to be open-minded and accepting of all people no matter what they believe. I am just here aiding communication on a psychological level to help people who have trouble understanding but who want to understand.
peace to you all

Faith comes by hearing..., sometimes when a seed is planted in good soil it will sprout.
the WORD of GOD is the seed and the sowers
sow wherever there is the possibility of new life
bursting forth out of what was once barren soil.

It might make the odd person change their mind but most probably it doesn't change peoples minds but I think it probably makes people think about things and question things. I think people have the right to believe or not to believe what ever they like.
