Do black pugs usually have the "double coat" that fawn pugs do? We currently have a fawn pug who sheds like crazy, and we were planning on getting a second pug. The good thing about the fawn pug is that his hair color blends in more to our furniture and rugs. A black pug who shedded this much would be terrible since our couch, rugs, etc are all a tan color. I know the double coat on fawn pugs is what usually causes them to shed as much as they do. Can you enlighten me as to how your own pug's shedding is?

I have one black pug (single coat) and a few fawns (single and double) and the black hair that collects in the vaccuum and in the dryer's lint catcher is unbelievable! I have a Dyson vaccuum which I use 2-3 times a week and could make another pug out of what I vaccuum up each time.

Black pugs come in single and double coat depends on the parents. Pugs shed a lot. In fact, they shed more than a lot. They shed tons. If you read or hear anything to the contrary, you’re either getting misinformation, or the input of someone whose Pug is a rare exception to the norm. Black Pugs and Fawn pugs shed the same. The single coat sheds a little less than the double but, the single still sheds tons.
My Pug sheds TONS. I give her a bath once a week and brush her daily and there is still hair all over the place. I vacuum 3 times a week.

We rescued a black pug recently and he doesn't have the double coat nor does he shed much. However, there's a good chance he's a mix. We thing he may be a Boston Terrier Pug mix, but we'll never know.

The only difference is the color teh coat is the same and they shed the same
