Ok, I'm taking the advise I got from YahooANswers people. I'm getting a new barrel for my Mossberg 590. The question i have is... is the barrel mentioned above the right one for me? I know that the 500 and the 590 are pretty much the same gun. Also, what does "Ported Blue" mean? And, is $120.00 a decent price for it? Thanks a lot for your help!

NO, it will NOT fit your 590!

The 590 has an extended magazine tube that a 500 barrel can't attach to as it is. The only barrel that will fit a 590 is the one you have on it right now.

To use that barrel on your 590, you'll need to purchase and replace the magazine tube and mag spring as well and in effect convert your 590 back into the original 500. Once you replace the mag tube and spring with the 500 tube, *all* 500 barrels will then fit it.

You can find Mossberg barrels on gunbroker.com for half that....Mossy owners are always trading parts to make their favorite custom weapons....so don't pay full price if you aren't in some sort of hurry.

YES,,The barrel you listed should fit your Mossberg 590 series Shotgun. Is your current Mossberg 590 a magnum gun?

Blued-Ported means: The barrel is blued steel finish and it's ported (Meaning there are small slots cut into the top end of the barrel(on either side of the bead front sight) to vent gases upward when you shoot and to reduce the muzzle climb) It also comes with (3) seperate screw in barrel chokes for all types of hunting.

$120 is the retail price. Not a sale price. But a decent price for all you get with it..

Good choice. Good length, magna ported cuts recoil, interchangable chokes, yada. What's not to like? It used to be that you had to buy each and every barrel of whatever choke setup you wanted. I have a years old 870 with three extra barrels; now you can get one barrel and whatever choke you want. The price sounds like a steal in comparison to the three extra barrels I bought. The 3" is nice, too. You can shoot any shorter make shell you want in it and use the 3" shells for hunting.

I do not think that is will fit. The 500 is different than the 590.
