The Holy Roman Empire has an interesting history doesn't it.
I was surprised to see the last emperor died in the early 1800's. That's how old the Empire really is.
Also, ----that the Allied Forces found, but not surprisingly, ----that's the hidden reason Pope Pius backed the Nazis. Because, the Third Reich would 'resurrect' the Holy Roman Empire, and it would be the real earthly form of God's Kingdom.
Acting as God's Representative on earth, Pope Pius gained a lot of blood on his hands, when he told Catholics to fight, regardless which side they where on.
Sad isn't it.
Maybe not that Pope Pius would do such a thing, but that people would blindly follow a command to be so violent.

No at least not true Christians. The Roman Empire (spawn of the Roman Catholic Church) is ungodly and as such it has no claim to being Holy in any way. It stole from the Babylonians to get the Trinity and the Hindus to get the rosary beads. Neither of which is Christian at all. They have numerous other practices that are condemned in the Bible and by those that live for the Lord Jesus.

The Roman Empire was quite extensive since they had conquered most all of the civilized world, including Europe.
The term "Holy Roman Empire" came about when the official state religion was sanctioned and empowered, which gave the RC Church UNLIMITED state powers to convert EVERYONE within the Empire into becoming members or risk being persecuted.
That was when the Church killed multitudes "in the name of [their] God." And there was nothing "HOLY" about such atrocities.
Peace be with you.

The Holy Roman Empire was neither holy, nor Roman nor an empire. It was a name created for propaganda purposes and it worked.

HRE is a designation of/by/for the empire at that time. It is simply a means of describing the times in the language they used.
Most Christians agree that the secular government was controlling the church and using it as a political tool in those days.

HRE was Germany, and it was not Holy in the least. It defied the Pope countless times and contrived to control Europe. I'm not Christian though, so I can't answer for them.
