Surely you are already teaching your own kids about your religion at home and at your church. Do you think the school can add something to that subject that you do not?

Or is this not about your kids at all? Isn't the real reason you want your religion in schools is so that you can indoctrinate MY kids?

It's pretty obvious. It's their way of proselytizing at the taxpayer's expense. Creepy and evil, huh?

I don't want my religion taught in public schools... or any school. I don't even teach my own kid religion... I let him look into it himself and figure it out from there. I'm just here to make sure he can deal with society when he has to go it alone.

I believe that is exactly why they want their religion taught in public schools. They think they have some moral duty to teach everyone's kids their religion. They really don't like it when I ask if they would mind if I, a Pagan, can come to their kids schools and teach their kids some Rituals of my own religion. Suddenly, they don't like the idea of religion being taught there.

I don't want my religion in schools, I want it in people's heads! No seriously, religion is something that should be taught at home always, school isn't the right place for that. Even atheism should be taught at home only, teachers shouldn't be telling kids god doesn't exist. I understand people teaching kids about evolution, but saying God does, or doesn't exist should be something done outside of school, or by conversations between kids themselves.

Religion and school should be separate. If parents want their kids to know about it, then they should teach them. Wanting religion taught in schools is just another way for them to convert us that are from other religions and tell us we are wrong. They do not teach atheism in school, and evolution is a theory, not a religion. They need to be kept separate, but if people want kids to learn it in school, then they should send them to a private, Christian school. Religion teaching is meant for church, not school!

I don't really agree with it being taught in public schools, because then all religions would have to be taught, and today most anything can be considered a religion.

But....but....the whole world needs to be told the Good News about the Flying Spaghetti Monster (FSM)!

How could I sleep at night thinking of the millions who will never know the joy of piratude or the blessed afterlife with its beer volcano and its strippers (of both genders)?

The FSM has given his believers a mandate to spread the Good News of His Noodly Appendage throughout the sentient universe.

Have you been touched by His Noodly Appendage? Can I hear a RAmen?

Why would you assume I would be teaching my kids about religion? Why would you assume they go to church? I give them the opportunity to find out for themselves.

And why would you assume I'm trying to indoctrinate you'r kids, you can teach them what you like. Surely with you and your church teaching them about your religion, there's no need to waste time teaching them at school. I think it's immoral to impose your beliefs on young children, especially if you are presenting it to them as being "the truth" rather than a belief. Understand that not everyone believes in god, not everyone wishes for your beliefs to be imposed upon impressionalbe children.

I do not want my faith, or any religion, taught in public schools.

I do not desire to indoctrinate you or your kids.

I would like to reason with you that if we are seeking truth, then we should not fear facts.

I'm interested that the facts be taught in schools; whether they support or undermine my belief structure is not relevent. Problem is that most of what is taught today is based in theory, not fact.

If we're giong to talk theory, let's get all valid theories on the table.

I would like to see the basics of all religions taught in school. I think it's very important to bring up well-rounded kids. But yes, I teach my kids about God, Christ, and the Bible. And I teach them about other religions. So it is more about other people's kids with the hope that more enlightened people would then be less ignorant and more acceptable of other people's faith.

Be blessed

I only want MY religion taught in public schools IF other religions are taught too. Then I want mine taught as an alternative viewpoint....

If I wanted my children to only be exposed to MY religious beliefs, I'd homeschool them in a compound surrounded by ONLY those who share my religion.

As that is unlikely to EVER happen in this country..... I'd only ask for equal time in public schools

Kids get enough indoctrination when they watch TV. I am with Father K on this one.
