Toronto is a city in the province of Ontario.
Toronto, Ontario is in Canada.
A province is like a state in the United States. Provinces are bigger though, if your asking what a province is.

There is no province of Toronto. Toronto is not the capital but the largest city population wise in all of Canada. It is in the province of Ontario.

It's a fictional place that exists in the hearts and minds of a lot of Torontonians. They would want the city of Toronto to be a separate province all to itself which would probably be good for them but disastrous for the rest of Ontario.
So Toronto is a city in the province of Ontario.

We are trying to trade Toronto for a few good hockey players, but nobody wants it, so for now it is still in Ontario.

I like that " toronto is in canada though" since you put it in the Canada catergory, it was pretty safe to assume we all knew that.
