There is technology today that uses conduits of optic fiber to produce light in modern buildings. Oh, did I say produce? I guess I am wrong. The optic fibers do not produce anything, they reflect, don't they? However, in a way, they do produce light by channeling it.

The Hebrew word for "light" is ma'owr which means "bright". There is nothing within this word that denotes a "source", but that which is bright, which could denote a source, or a reflection.

Note that this same Hebrew word is used in Proverbs 15:30

"Bright" eyes gladden the heart;
Good news puts fat on the bones.

The purpose of this writing is also prophetic. There will be One that rules the day, and another to rule the night.

Ephesians 6:12
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age.

2 Peter 1:19
And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

The prophets never said one way or the other how the moon gives light, just that it does. A more accurate translation says:

Genesis 1:16 - And God maketh the two great luminaries, the great luminary for the rule of the day, and the small luminary -- and the stars -- for the rule of the night;

lu·mi·nar·y
–noun
1.a celestial body, as the sun or moon.
2.a body, object, etc., that gives light.
3.a person who has attained eminence in his or her field or is an inspiration to others: one of the luminaries in the field of medical science.

Isn't it wonderful how God tied everything "all" in to benefit us. Never pick at it, but thank him. Hate the violent one, hate what is wicked, but thank God for light at night.

Always be thankful even in the face of adversary. Armageddon will be here soon. I know at that time, if I make it, I want to travel to the moon and other planets and universes. Firstly, however, all the wicked will need to be destroyed in the earth, then the 10% left over will see many new things after Armageddon.

I for one will love to see the moon and a lot more! What about you?

No, they probably did not know. The Greeks, too, had issues with astronomy along with most early cultures. The bible seems not to understand the place of Venus, for example, referring to the morning star. This led to a long argument in the philosophy of science on the place of reference. But that is another story!

God had to give us answers that we would understand back in those times. We still now do not have the capacity to understand him fully nor will we ever have that. That is why He is God. Look at the stars and beyond we are not even a grain of sand, Yet he still provides for us.

He should have made the moon out of silver, it's a much better conductor. Intelligent design my @ss. I must also add that in physics, a source of radiation is exactly that, it generates electomagnetic radiation. Applying the Plank blackbody theory, the temperature of the moon is low so most of spontateously emmitted radiation would be well below the visible range, so it is not a source of visible light.

Probably not but I think that is also a figure of speech, sounds more poetic then "God made a ball of gas and a reflector."

You read that article too, huh?

I would have to say, given the description of the moon in genesis; that, no, they did not.

Given the reaction of the people who walked out on Bill Nye's lecture when he informed them that the moon didn't generate any light...some people today still don't understand that.
