True Christians bear the message of a loving and magnanimous God, who so loved the world, He sent His son to be the solution for our imperfection (sin) which separates us from Him. Many people hate us because they don't want to come to the light, and don't want to be held accountable for their actions.

I don't like having some purloined Bible thumper showing up at my doorstep and preaching what they haven't practiced for 2000 years.
That being said, there is no God. There is no Jesus; as every religion on this planet is as fake as a $3 bill.
It's only designed to keep people like you in line and mallable to suggestion by your so-called "Christian" leaders--whom go bombing countries in the name of God and Jesus. (George Bush ring a bell?)
Otherwise, I don't have a faith. I soon realized that after becoming a Jehovah's Witness that all religions had one common doctrine: Eternal slavery upon the threat of death.
By God and Jesus no less.
What kind of a LIFE is that?
So that made me back out and start questioning the truth face of religion.
And I found it within 23 years of searching and research:
Religion was created to control people through subversion and fear. By the very same leaders who claim to have your best interests at heart.
Each century, the Bible was changed to reflect the times and the people of that era.
All in the name of some non-existent God.
Sounds good in practice, but in reality? You can't substitute religion for real life.

I don't hate Christians. I don't pass judgement on anybody based on their beliefs. I do however have a problem with people pushing their faith on me. If I wanted to know more about your religion I would ask, or do the research myself. I also take offence to this term "saved", it's extremely condescending and doesn't help your case one bit. I live a very good life, more so than most people who claim to be good christians. I forgive those that have wronged me, I'm honest (at times to a fault), I respect all human beings no matter their color, religion, sexualpreference, etc. and I show appreciation for life and the beauty of nature on a daily basis. I've said it a thousand times before: If god would punish a perfectly good human being to an eternity of suffering because I didn't feed his ego on earth, I'd rather be in hell.

Actually you are very misguided in thinking you are doing us a favor by trying to "save us". I know you like to think God is an exclusive Christian God and that heaven is exclusively for Christians only but that is very narrow minded and egotistical thinking.
What about starving kids in Africa or Hindus or Buddhists etc, they don't deserve to have a loving God or go to a good place when they die because they don't think the same way you do?
If you want to save people then don't try and convert them and you will be allowing them to live their life fully without being held back by false superstitious nonsense.
I think the real reason Christians try and convert others is so it reconfirms your belief system and you don't have to feel so bad doing all those rituals and stuff because other people are doing it as well. I bet you must envy people that have a carefree life without this senseless dogma.
And btw I know that you all think that faith alone saves you but how about walking the tougher path in life and learning personal responsibility and also help people not by quoting the bible but actually getting your hands dirty.

I do not hate Christians, I just think that you should lead by example not by trying to convert people who are perfectly happy where they are. I was Christian until I started reading about the history of the faith and what they have done to others down through the ages. I also did not like being told I HAVE to LOVE everyone no matter what. I like everyone, I just don't like some of their actions. I also do not like being told that if someone is doing something illegal that we should let them! That includes allowing illegals into my life and homeland! If they wish to be here, do it legally and when you do, learn the language! Still that seems to be beside the point. I feel that my path is right for me though it may not be right for others. I respect your faith, so why can't you respect mine and others who feel this way! Please leave us alone!

Let me make it clear, I do not hate individual Christians per se. It is organized Christianity I simply cannot stomach. You seem like a nice person and I take no joy in gratuitous hostility. (There are plenty of nasty Fundies out there, just spoiling for a fight.) Rather than launch a pointless tirade which will only serve to hurt your feelings, I'm going to just leave it at that.
Peace and Love
"DuckPhup" You've done it again. Great response....

Wait a minute!! I'm a Christian and I'm not interested in converting anyone here to my beliefs.. People have to decide for themselves what they believe. You don't believe with your head but rather your heart and so intellectual appeals won't convince anyone here of any position.. A lot of things people say about Christians and Christianity on here are simply wrong so I just ignore it and try to find some humour where I can. A few of the Christians on here are actually pretty funny and some of the jabs back and forth are pretty good natured..

As a nonreligious agnostic, I certainly do not hate Christians, since there are several in my immediate family. I understand what you are saying, but the problem you face is that nonbelievers have no desire to be "saved". What is so important to you in your life and purpose is irrelevant to nontheists. Nor will they or we appreciate your efforts, because they/we will not be convinced, many of us having been raised as Christians and having rejected its teachings. Your question, however, is nicely, politely, and thoughtfully written and deserves the respect of those answering it. Everyone is entitled, particularly in the United States, to his or her belief system, but people who embrace differing religions or philosophies from yours will generally resent your attempts, however well-intentioned, to convert them to your faith.

I beg to differ.
The reason that some christians feel the need to preach and convert has nothing to do with 'caring' or 'loving'. It's done because the bible tells you to do it. The reason that so many people hate those who do this is simple: it tells you to stop if your words are falling on deaf ears...and many do not do that.
Simply put, preaching and conversion are just a means to get brownie points with the object of your worship.

How would you like it if I decided to make it my mission to make sure everyone becomes an atheist? If I would run around converting people, telling them that they are wrong and I am right, and that I'm trying to help them see reason? What if I spread around BS that I love everyone equally, but then tell the continuing naysayers that they deserve to suffer for the rest of their lives?
Far be it from me to say that I hate ALL Christians. I honestly don't care what you believe. And one or two converters wouldn't have bothered me. However, I get confronted so often that I just can't handle being nice about this issue anymore. Christians, quite simply, need to mind their own business.

This is an answer to Denie as well as you. Welcome to the life of being a Christian who is in the world. The same thing that happened to Denie happened when Jesus came into my life in a big way, 40 years ago.
Just because people go to church on Sundays and call themselves "Christians", that doesn't mean that they are actually "followers of Jesus" and try to put Jesus teachings into practice in their life.
When Jesus said that, "In the latter days that they will put you out of the synagogues for the sake of my name", he wasn't only talking about the Jewish synagogues, He was also talking about the "supposedly" Christian Churches.
When you read the Beatitudes in the Sermon on The Mount, in the book of Matthew, think about yourself and the treatment you are given if you are truely a follower of Jesus.
Also remember what Jesus said, when He said to His apostles, "I send you out as sheep among wolves. You must be WISE as serpents, but gentle as doves." Wisdom is called for in all things and it is only found in the Bible, both the "Old Testament", and the New Testament.
Finally, Jesus said, "My peace I give to you, the peace that transcends the ability of the world to understand." Also, "While you are in the world, you will have trouble, but be cheerful, I have overcome the world." Also, the apostle Paul says in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus".
May the peace, joy, and love of God protect you in the name of Christ Jesus.
PS: No true follower of Jesus has ever done anything to justly give Christians a bad name. There were people who called themselves Christians, but were not true followers of Jesus, who caused some problems. There were also true followers of Jesus who did things that pagans didn't like. Remember, even Jesus did and said things that people didn't like and HATED Him for. They even crucified and killed Him they hated him so much.
God bless you.
