My dogs are brother and sister Lab/ Aussie mix ,they weigh 54 (girl) (boy) 58 pounds each. How much should I feed them? They are not in a large yard and they don't run around like crazy. I would say they are semi sedentary. How much should I feed my babies? Thanks for answering.

Cant help you without a food name....

I feed my dogs Solid Gold brand Barking at the Moon.... They are both around 70lbs and eat 3 cups a day. It's a super premium food though. If your feeding junk food like Pedigree it would be about 10 cups. Go by what the bag recommends, since your dogs arent active, i would cut the food back 1/4 If your feeding 4 cups feed them 3 instead etc.

Good luck, could help more with the specific food.

Best rule of thumb is following.
Purchase a good brand of nutritious dog food. Either Iams or Science Diet. For your breed it will recommend the daily allowance of food on the back of the product. Also if they do not have adequate exercise , purchase a weigh control dry food. And than read the instructions fo each size of the dog. I hope this helps. If they are puppies purchase the puppy stage food. Than when they grow older purchase adult and so on.l

With any dog food it is best to read the back of packages for all the ingredients first before deciding what to buy. You are better off trying to buy from a pet store that sells dog food that does not have a lot of corn products in them. The most important thing to look for is the first thing on the ingredient list. What ever that is will be your main ingredient in the food. IF it says meat by products then you are not getting the best meat. If it list corn or a grain first then that is the main ingredient in the food. You should try to find beef or chicken as your first listing for the health of your pets. It is always good to follow the back of the package as to how much to feed your pet. Some dogs will eat less then others and sometimes when you have two of them, one will try to eat it all before the other one can get any so it is best to try to feed them apart as possible. You are always better off trying to feed your pets less grains and a lot of people are buying dog food with no grains in them now. But you have to twitch over slowly by blending what you have fed them first before going to a total grain free diet. Also and this is very important do not feed your dogs any toys or dog chewy things or rawhide products that are made in China. They are putting some chemicals in them that are killing pets or making them ill. So make sure all your dog products are only american made. If it say distributed by this does not mean made in the USA. It has to say manufactured and made by. I hope I have been of some help to you. WE had a bad pet food recall a while back in March and several pets were killed. My pure bred collie was one of them. There was a drug called melamine in the pet food and they also fed it to our cattle, pigs, chickens in their grains. It is in our food chain now and so it will be in our pets food too. It is very important to stay up on recalls right now so check on the FDA sight. There may be more soon since the yields of grains this year were really bad and may have mold in them and this will kill our pets too. There was a report about one type of dog food so far. There is a sight I get on that helps keep you up on your pets and they usually tell about any pet foods that are making any animals ill and they say it before the FDA does. it is .... itchmo.com/ go on it and they are very helpful with all of your pet needs.. IT is also good to try to stay away from any rice protein or wheat gluten in the pet foods that are not made in USA since these were the products that had the melamine in them.

always read the package for the feeding guidlines....each food has slightly different protein, carbs, etc, so they may all be a little different on the feeding guidelines.
PLEASE go with a natural food - no wheat, no corn, no soy, no by-products....if you don't want to eat chicken beak, then why would you feed it to your babies? Just something to think about!
