Mary gave birth to her creator, Jesus was , as St Thomas said in the bible,"My Lord and My God!" Elizabeth said, "How is it that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" It is a statement of faith. Jesus is God. Just because you cannot understand how the trinity is possible with your human intellect, dont make it untrue, there is no person who can fully understand God, if we could he wouldnt be God. We make the intellectual assent of faith by claiming that Mary was themother of God. This is biblical. Mary giving birth to a nature is not truth. mothers give birth to persons, this mother gave birth to God, who was called Jesus, or Emmanuel meaning God is with us.

You are right. Not very eloquent, but right all the same. There is no one in all of History whose relationship with God is as complex, fulfilled, and achingly beautiful as Mary's.
She is not only the greatest of Saints, she is our Mother, as Jesus is our Brother and Savior. In honoring her, we honor Him -- and imitate Him, as we are admonished to both honor our parents and imitate Christ, Who loved His Mother.
Our relationship with Mary is that of a child to a blessed Mother who was given to us as Jesus gave her to John at the Cross.
She is our spiritual Mother (Revelation 12:17 -- And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ).........
........and she wants to pray for us.

Luke 1: 42 - 55:
When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, "Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled."
And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me— holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers."

Things to think on: (1) It is said that god can not be tempted but Satan tempted Jesus Christ, for 40 days, after he was baptized. (2) When Jesus was baptized Matt 3 - 16.17 the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son,in whom I am well pleased. * NOTE I am not one to call my god, Jehovah, a liar or one to deceive people so when he says - Jesus Christ was/is his Son that is good enough for a simple god fearing man like myself!

Hbr 2:6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is MAN, that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Hbr 2:7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of thy hands:
Yahweh will place MAN over the works of His hands not the gods.
If your Jesus is a god, then he will not qualify for the above position because that position is reserved for man not a god.
Have you Preacher explain away that scripture.

The point is, dear one, Catholics worship Mary and even pray to her. God's Word, the Bible tells us that Jesus is our ONLY mediator to the Father.
Mary was only a vessel and can do nothing for you. She's dead.
Jesus is the ONLY One you can pray through. He died for you for that very reason.
God bless you!
