i have a vivitar 5386 digital camera 5 megapixel and i want to protect it very well.what could i do or put on the camera to protect the lens and the screen?

You can get a stick on screen protector. It prevents scratches and in some cases, fingerprints.
Get a soft case to put the camera in. Try not to put it into your pocket or a handbag with sharp objects like keys if it does not have a soft case.

You can check at cameraarmor.com and bonicadive.com and see if they have a protective cover. If they do, choose one you like and buy it.
You should always have a Skylight or HAZE/UV filter on your lens to protect the front element.
Your camera should always be hanging around your neck on a comfy strap unless its on a tripod or in your camera bag.

Go to walmart & but a screen protector. Then cut it to the right size & put it on the screen. You should definitely buy a case too!

Leave it at home. Seriously. We see "I got my camera wet and it's broken!" every day. One slip out of your hand and you'll be crying a river. I know I would be. Don't do it.

Get a case for it. If you don't want to spend the money on a "real" case, use a sandwich bag.
