Hi! I'm 15 and I've never been to the eye doctor. I am going tomorrow (I failed my drivers ed eye thingie..I couldn't even see the E) to have a eye exam and was wondering what they do?

Also, when they ask you to read the chart thing what do I say? i can't see any of it. It sounds kinda lame.

Double also, what will they think when I can't see anything?

Thanks guys!!!

They have a chart with the top letter being the kind of size you should be able to see at 200 feet. If you sit there 20 feet from it but can't see it clearly then they call your vision 20/200. If it is really that bad I am amazed you could see the blackboard at school or see to cross a street.

Obviously some people have vision that bad or they never would put it on the chart so don't fell bad as if you were a freak and that the eye doctor will be mad at your poor vision.

Even if you can't see anything on the chart they will have corrective lens prescriptions that will bring your vision back to normal.

I just went to the eye doctor and got a persciption. seriously like today and I am only a little younger than you. don't worry at all. first they test your depth percption with a wich one is 3-d test and then they have you look at the chart once they find what row your vision gets worst at they have you look through a lense thing and they change the lenses on it until you can read the line and all of the others below it. it doesn't hur t at all and my eyes felt better looking through the lense. which ever one mached is your perscription and they write it down and you take it to a glasses place and get it filled. DON"T WORRY

Well, at least I could see very blurry the biggest E. And just say that you can't see it. I did that and it was better than to lie. Also, advice: don't make your eyes into a line (it helps you see better though...).
Oh yah, mine just said that I was practicly blind and that he was surprised that I wan't hit by a car.
And before you go, don't go on the computer or make you eyes stress, you'll do worst on the test.
And just stay calm.
Good luck!!!

Just be honest.

Don't worry about what the eye Dr. thinks, just be honest, hey maybe you have been missing out on what you are seeing, if your eyes are that bad. This could be a good thing!

I wish you best of luck.

Believe me they do not think that you are stupid, they are there to help you see better. You will make their day if you can leave there seeing better than you ever have before!!
