Yep. Just keep interacting with him/her and repeat his/her name when you're playing. If you spend enough time with them, they'll learn to know you, but if it just sits in it's cage all day, everyday... then no. You get the drift. :-) Good luck.

Some owners claim that their guinea pigs know their names, personally I don't think they do. With time, cuddles everday and floor time for at least 1 hour each day your guinea pig will however know you as their owner. Start a routine and stick to it (eg 7am breakfast, 4 pm floor time, 5pm cuddles, 7pm dinner).
As a side note, guinea pigs are often happier and more active when housed in groups of 2 or more. Please consider getting your guinea pig a cage mate and please adopt. Also, guinea pigs love space and need space to popcorn and zoom around! 1 guinea pig needs a 7.5sq ft cage, 2 guinea pigs need a 10.5sq ft cage. I would be highly suprised if you could find a pet store cage that big, instead make a C&C cage. These are cheap, easy to build, modify and clean. http://www.guineapigcages.com/index.htm

I have heard that some pigs start to react to their names. Not mine. They do know me as their owner though. When I had a petsitter come feed my pigs while I was out of town, one of my pigs ran to the front of the cage when she brought the veggies in. As soon as she spoke, he ran and hid and wouldn't come back out. He knew that it was his normal owner and was frightened.

If you consistently play with your guinea pig, it will definitely know you and like you.
I'm not sure they actually know their names, but they know you are talking to them by the tone of your voice,

Personally, I don't think my boys know their names. But they definitely know me. They'll come up to me when I go to their cage, and when I have them out with me, they'll perch on me and lick my fingers, etc.
