Denny Hamlin won a race and Tony Stewart has won 3 races and both are in the Chase for the Cup. They also have Kyle Busch signed for next year in a 5 year contract and they are getting rid of J.J. Yeley. I love the fact that they are moving to Toyota as I am not a fan instead I am a Hendrick Motorsports fan, and with Gibbs going to Toyotas then they wont be the powerhouse team they have been in the past. Face it, Toyota is not doing anything in NASCAR and is struggling to make races and the cars are just not performing very well and I still think that it will be a while for them to win, and it was horrible of Gibbs to end a 16 year relationship with GM for some foreign team. However with them out of the way RCR and Hendrick will be competing for the top Chevy spot and we know that Hendrick will win because they have 3 big time drivers, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and the most famous driver of all Dale Earnhardt Jr. Those are some pretty big money makers and some pretty good drivers if you think about it.

If you are sayin it has been a bad season for Chevy you are wrong... it has been dominating... Now if it was Toyota and Joe Gibbs you are talking about I agree in a way and disagree... First with Toyota coming into Nascar they primarily joined up with first year start up teams, the combination of both hasnt showed the success they can have. On to Joe Gibbs Racing they have their ups and downs but consistently finishing in the top 10 is not to bad. Stewart and Hamlin both have had good seasons both making the chase. Yeley has what it takes I believe just last in line to recieve info.
Going to Toyota is going to boost Joe Gibbs racing to the top of their team list with everything going through them. At Chevy some say they were 3rd or 4th in line. With the combo of the 2 I believe Toyota and Gibbs will both be winning and at times dominating forces in Nextel Cup.

Well, Chevy has won 2/3 of the races and has most of the spots in the chase, Toyota has really got much in the way of talented drivers, and they know that Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, and Kyle Busch have been great over the past few seasons. Toyota is probabally paying Gibbs a good chunk of change too. I think it will work out great for both. And Just for all those "Foreign" car haters. Toyota is manufactured and assembled 100% in Indiana, USA. While Chevrolet, Ford, and Dodge are mostly produced in Canada and Mexico. I hold nothing against these countries. Just a FYI

Good point! It's gotta be for personal gains on the side of the president of the company. Maybe there's too much competition between teams with Chevrolet. I could think of lots of other better car manufacturers that should have their engines running in NASCAR. Maybe Toyota generates more revenue in the United States. It's just "change", and that's something that's most prevalent in the automotive industry. Besides... what's in a name. It says Toyota, but it's still a machine made by men out of the same metals from our planet, made to the same close tolerances and specifications, only slightly altered by design. Now that it's broken down like that, it's not so intimidating. Change is good.

I am totally excited about it. I think along with the addition of Kyle Bush to the team they will be virtually unbeatable. Toyota I'm sure will be a dominating factor in NASCAR in the next couple of years. Toyota needs a 1st rate team like Gibbs to move them forward. Of the owners that have made the switch so far I believe that the RED BULL teams have had the most consistancy. In Michael Waltrips case only David Rutaman has had very much progress. Chevy has been good to Gibbs, but I thing by making the switch now the become the leaders of the Toyota program in NASCAR and can better help all Toyota drivers with their experiences.

I don't like it because I like Tony. Performance wise there will be no difference. Toyota bought Gibbs to get the winning Chevrolet engineering that they couldn't possibly get through honest hard work. They will be running Chevy clones next year. Gibbs sold out the other Chevy teams and it wont be soon forgotten.

Joe Gibbs Racing will be just fine... with the talent they have and all the backing they will have from Toyota, they'll be fine. I think he did it mainly because of all the money Toyota will be throwing at them... with all that money, he won't have to resort to merging or taking on a partner to keep competitive like Roush/Fenway or Gillette/Evernham... he wants to be able to stay sole owner and hand down the business to his kids...

Toyota had to get a top notch winning team and drivers if they are to be sucessfull. I guess the money was right so JGR went toyota, my Smoke and Hamlin friends are finding this hard to swallow... I just look at it as Chevy loosing some great drivers..

My thoughts are "Wow, I'm so glad Bobby Labonte, my favorite driver, left Gibbs Racing before this happened." He may be doing poorly right now for Petty, but at least he's in a Dodge and not a Toyota!

I think they will have a better chance of making it work than Mikey had...more $$$$, more opportunities, sponsors, etc. Plus, they have owner points to get them in the races to see what they really can do. Mikey's team really had a struggle to start with, and never really got to give it a good try. If anybody can make it work, Gibbs can.
