I have been told that Temple of Set is not Satanism like the Church of Church of Satan founded by Anton Le Vey. I know there was some kind of schism between these two organizations. Does anyone know the philosophical differences between Temple of Set and Church of Satan? They seem the same to me.

LeVey's Church of Satan is atheistic in its outlook. it accepts the existance of NO supernatural beings, including Satan. Satan is a symbol.

The Setians are a form of Theistic Satanism. Specifically, they believe that the power behind the name "Satan" is the Egyptian god Set.

The Temple of Set was founded by a former Church of Satan member who accused the Church of corruption.

Never heard of the Temple of Set.
The only Set I've ever heard of was the Egyptian God of Chaos. If that's what you're referring to, I'd imagine the rituals that go in inside are of a more chaotic and violent nature that those of the Church of Satan.

I think there was a division in the Church of Satan and one of the high priests started his own church which became the Temple of Set. Don't quote me on that.

"The Temple of Set was founded by a former Church of Satan member who accused the Church of corruption."

That sounds vaguely familiar. Did they nail their Theses to the door of LaVey's Church, I wonder?
