both batteries fell out. I could only find one, so I just put one back in there and gave it back to her. I was planning to tell her at the end of class about the battery, except I forgot. Now she starts off class today saying something along the lines of 'apparently one of you all has stolen one of the batteries, and I hope whoever stole it comes forward and gives it to me'. I didn't say anything the whole class about it and she cleary seems annoyed with the situation-what should I do?

A bit of an overreaction on her part, IMO. Why assume the worst?

Just tell her what happened - and bring a new batery from home, so she doesn't keep having a fit like that.

Just talk to your teacher after class and explain what happened. I'm sorry that she assumed that the battery was stolen. You could also offer to buy new batteries.

Tell her the truth...

Telling her the situation and what happened will most likely be the best way... let her know that if she wants you can replace the batteries yourself... they aren't that expensive..

Hopefully she'll understand... if not, then I am not sure...

good luck...
