Bacteria sometimes found on skin get in a hair follicle [ eyelash ] or a skin pore. The resulting reaction by your body causes inflammation, redness, and pus.
1] use warm wet soaks with paper towels [ very contagious ],
four times a day
2] wash the eye area with baby shampoo [ tearless ] twice a day.
3] wash hands before and after touching face
Tell your sister to keep her hands off her face!
Wash face with face wash before bed, always! [ help prevent future sties ]
And wash hands, always, before you touch your face.

Sties are the result of an infected oil gland at the base of the eyelash. You can get more than one sty at a time or several in succession because the infection can spread from one hair follicle to others. Infection can occur, for example, when a contaminated mascara or makeup brush gives bacteria a free ride into the oily pores along the lashes. People who have super-oily skin or scalp may be sty-prone, just as they may be acne-prone

The best thing I have found for styes is an eye drop that is found in the homeopathic area of the drug store. I'm not sure of the name but most Wal*marts, Walgreens should have it.

My daughter gets styes constantly as well. Her opthamalogist said it is more prevalent in people who are far-sighted. They also recommended that when you get one, bath it in hot water (hot as you can stand) to get rid of it. But you can also wash her eyes with baby wash shampoo, to help get rid of any dirt or bacteria around her eyes. We have been doing this for years and it help ALOT! Good luck!
