Arizona State University has helped as many as 200 illegal immigrants obtain private scholarships this semester to help pay for higher out-of-state tuition they are charged under state law, university President Michael Crow said.

Crow said ASU has set up a program to help students who have graduated from state high schools pay the higher tuition required under voter-approved Proposition 300. The aid has gone to 150 to 200 students, and based on his estimate, the total money provided is about $1.8 million.http://kvoa.com/Global/story.asp?S=7046145

what do you care? their getting money from private scholarships to cover the difference between out-of-state tuition and in-state tuition. This money doesn't come from your taxes, it comes from private citizens. And these kids still have to pay the regular tuition costs on their own.

Now stop whining, for all you know one of those imigrants that made it to college because of this financial aid will end up curing some fatal disease that you get someday.

As a legal citizen of the US and a parent I can't help but be outraged! My daughter received her Associates degree this past May. We have contributed all we can to her education. She obtained some scholarships but no where near what she needs to fund a full year in school. Our income isn't great and when FASSA does the math we still owe 12,000.00 in order for her to enroll full time.

She has to set out this year, work, save money and also pay towards the loans she had to take out for her Associates degree. She could apply for more loans but needs a co-signer and her dad's job just left this country for Mexico. We haven't been successful finding a lending institution that will accept my salary to co-sign for her.

It appears that if you play by the rules all you get is s### on when you want to better yourself. If you jump into motherhood or come to this country illegally you are rewarded with all sorts of programs to better yourself.

Can anyone tell me if there is a program issuing grants to middle class families caught in a "catch 22"?

i wish i did not have to take out student loans to cover extra cost of schooling that grants do not pay for.i have seen illegals get so much scholarships and grants that it makes me sick.then they have cars better looking than me and my husbands, and he works a million hours a week.then i hate when i see them at stores with their food stamps, and not knowing much english and a mexico driver license.their id is prolly expired and the government still gives them freebies.i do not get it.do things illegally and your get your whole family cared for from every little thing that you need, and all the taxpayers foot the bill.i do not understand the laws at all on illegals.why have any if they will be ignored?

The only way to fix this immigration problem is by having a “comprehensive immigration reform” But there has been a continued support of worksite raids which have had terrible repercussions, including the separation of children from their parents, increased racial profiling and intimidation, and a growing sense of fear throughout the nation’s immigrant communities. A better starting point for repairs to our immigration system would include adjusting the status of undocumented immigrants, supporting family reunification, and enforcing labor laws that protect immigrant and non-immigrants alike.

I think CA has a similar program. If an illegal attended CA high school for 3 years and graduated, they get in-state tuition. Da poor babies couldn't go otherwise cuz it would be cost prohibitive. Pretty soon whites aren't going to be able to do anything, and won't have half the rights the illegals have now.

Wow, if I had known it was this easy to get a free US college education, I would not of bother coming to the States legally!!

Crow is out of order, help should be given to Legals and US citizens who could not afford to go to college if they do not have help financially

Hmm..... I can see how that would piss alot of peole off- but look at it this way----
If the Illegals get educated, then get legal, they can command more money for the jobs they are doing--- thius helping to improve the pay rate for everybody!!!!
There are some employers that are paying the illegals alot less money just because they are illegal What if they we'rent illegal anymore....and smarter.....hmmmm.

that's the best thing they can do cuz they don't sponsor C students , like our president , but mostly "A" students . and please before posting something like this get yourself well informed , what you are trying to do make those students look bad , thank you.

That's complete bullshit.

If we are to help anyone get a college education, make it the future president of America who is a legal citizen to poor to otherwise get recognized.

If we are to help anyone get a college education, make it the next guy who finds a cure for AIDs but can't becuase of limited resources for college

If we are to help anyone get a college education, make it the real citizens of America too poor to do anything else.

Why are we wasting money on people who obviously came here illegally; -- broke the law to come here.
