I've read that science has proved that the eighth day after the birth of a child is the ideal blood clotting day.

Not quite what you're asking, but my boyfriend is uncut, never had an infection or other problem, and I know for a fact the foreskin itself give him loads of pleasure (as well as when it rubs against the glans etc) which a cut guy would obviously be missing out on. Hygiene is easy, and STDs are stopped by condoms. I would urge you not to cut your son. Your friend seems to be right - most of the accurate anti-circumcision information is on the web, asking people in person you tend to get a bunch of myths and stuff like it's "cleaner" which is why people do it. I don't have any sons yet but most women I know did not circumcise their boys (here in Australia it's a rare practice, and I know in the UK most people think it's barbaric that it's done so often in the USA). The few I do who circumcised were either religious or regret it, except one who got it done for supposedly medical reasons which was pretty traumatic on the kid. Meateal stenosis is a common complication of circumcision.

goodwill: The answer is an emphatic NO ! Why? Because the Old Covenant is not valid since it was replaced with the "New" Covenant. The Old covenant was binding between the Jewish Israelites under Moses and solely, subjective to only them. Basically, God was attempting to get across to the Jews what He already knew. That they could not keep the many laws and ordinances given to them (with the exception of a very few - Moses - Caleb - Joshua -King David )... all these had the Holy Spirit working within them to enable them to have a relationship with God and to observe His many laws in the "spirit" not just the letter.
In the light of all of this, Jesus Christ came to offer those (of His Father -God own choosing) a relationship by and with the Holy Spirit - starting with the disciples.
THE OLD COVENANT vs. NEW COVENANT
1) Works externally. 1) Works INternally.
2) Written in Ink. 2) Written by the Spirit.
3) Of the "letter". 3) Of the "Spirit".
4) The "letter" kills. 4) "Spirit" gives LIFE.
5) Brings "Condemnation" 5) Brings "Righteousness"
6) WAS once, "glorious". 6) "Glory" remains (lasts).
7) "Veils" (blinds) the heart. 7) Removes the "veil".
ALL FROM SECOND CORINTHIANS CHAPTER 3,
VERSES 3 to 18 .
This is why the Old Testament is voided by God.

Depends on if you follow Leviticus. Leviticus also says you have to kill pigeons and take them to the temple after your period; abstain from church for a time after having a female baby; stone people to death etc. do you follow all that?
The New Testament says circumcision is not required, and there are also some Jews who don't circumcise:
http://www.mothersagainstcirc.org/religious.htm
http://www.jewishcircumcision.org/
http://www.noharmm.org/jewhouseholds.htm
Circumcision rates are falling, and only a small minority of men in the world are circumcised, because it has been recognised that it is not medically necessary, especially because it takes a choice away from a boy about his own penis.

Circumcision is not a requirement among New Testament believers. Jesus requires circumcision of the heart. That is spiritual circumcision. This happens when you confess your sins and receive Christ as your Savior.

Romans 10:9

Dumb Jewish customs die slowly in mainline Christianity !
Of course not; Christians should never circumcise their baby boys, there is no spiritual or medical reason to do so. In some parts of Africa, they even go so far to circumcise (mutilate) girls !
Talk to some good non-Jewish doctors !

Col 2:6-15
Brothers and sisters:
As you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in him,
rooted in him and built upon him
and established in the faith as you were taught,
abounding in thanksgiving.
See to it that no one captivate you with an empty, seductive philosophy
according to the tradition of men,
according to the elemental powers of the world
and not according to Christ.
For in him dwells the whole fullness of the deity bodily,
and you share in this fullness in him,
who is the head of every principality and power.
In him you were also circumcised
with a circumcision not administered by hand,
by stripping off the carnal body, with the circumcision of Christ.
You were buried with him in baptism,
in which you were also raised with him
through faith in the power of God,
who raised him from the dead.
And even when you were dead in transgressions
and the circumcision of your flesh,
he brought you to life along with him,
having forgiven us all our transgressions;
obliterating the bond against us, with its legal claims,
which was opposed to us,
he also removed it from our midst, nailing it to the cross;
despoiling the principalities and the powers,
he made a public spectacle of them,
leading them away in triumph by it.
For medical hygiene it is recommended. But not necessarily needed as long the male organ is kept clean always.
It is only advisable to male.

I don't think children should be circumcised. It is painful, and traumatizing and not very much is done to decrease the pain received.
I think it should be waited until they are old enough to make the decision on their own. When proper anesthesia will be used.

No that commandment for Abraham to separate the Jews from the descendants of Ham. That was a covenant between God and Abraham. God does not want a circumcised penis, he wants a circumcised heart.
