My fiance and I were talking about it the other day.
I got mine when I was about 8 1/2...just out of 2nd grade. My cousin got hers about that age too but my friend didn't get one until middle school....Just wondering, did we just get ours earlier than most people, or is this average?
And also, did your aprents make a big deal about it? Hers did, mine didn't. She was totally unprepared but I knew what was going on with my body..Is this how you felt?

It was the most embarrassing day of my life... LOL I was 12 yrs old just started school in the 6th grade and was wearing light blue dress.. I wasn't prepared for it.. My parent didn't make a big deal about it at all..

I got mine when i was 12 just going in to 8th grade and I felt like I was prepared because I was the last one to start out of my group of friends they started at about 5th, 6th or 7th grade and I took a class with my mom when I was in 4th grade about getting your period so yes I was prepared.
I think you started yours way earlier then most I never herd of that young.

I was 10 years old and still playing with dolls! I was definitely not prepared but knew exactly what it was. My mom had not talked to me about it because she thought I was still too young. I've noticed that girls these days have symptoms a few months prior. Like acne, body odor, cramps, raging hormones, etc. I did not have any symptom whatsoever so it was a big shocker to my mom and me. I'm 26 years old now and whenever I have a daughter I'm going to make sure she knows about it early on.

I got mine when I was 12. I knew what a period was because they made us girls go to a class about it in 6th grade. I got it a couple months into middle school. My parents never talked about it though, I never knew how to use a tampon or anything, I had to read the box and teach myself...that wasn't fun...

I got mine at the age of 10 and no, I was not prepared I mean I did know that eventually i was gonna get it but i wasn't prepared for it to happen that soon for me. But it did and my mom made such a big deal out of it she called my brother and told him then my whole family I was so angry at her but I dont think she cared. lol!! that was embarrasing.

I didn't get mine until I was 16 so I was more than prepared. No one made a big deal about it.

I started my period when i was 11 years old (in the 6th grade) and i did not even know what it was. I was scared but i learnt myself how to deal with it.

yes you were quite young. mine was 11 and i was sotra shocked it did happen in thesumemr time so that helped and mom went and got pads forme didnt' explain too much. i was always left on own about such stuff you can to spell SEX and stuff like that then. but anyhow its sad when someone doesn't tell you or talk to you about it before it happens.
