I like her (have met her), like her recipes etc but I am not convinced that what she is doing on TV at the moment are 'fast foods'. She says 10 minutes, and I think, 30 minutes. Am I just inept at cooking fast food Nigella style, or does anyone agree with me?

I watched Nigella Express earlier and couldn't quite believe the magnitude of patronising self satisfied self exalting smugness I saw eminating from a single human being's mouth. "I simply adore how vintage cream sherry sizzles on my Le Creseut wok", "We all of us working mum's have busy schedules to keep, so why not have your butler fly the kids off to Milan before your next dinner party?" "Don't forget to send your manservant off to Harrods the day before your soiree to ensure the larder is stocked with harrisa". Don't forget to grate your face in with it you insufferable trollop!

I think there is a difference between setting up your children with a good education, driving lessons, deposit on a house – maybe paying off the student loan ....... AND handing your kids millions at an early age before they have had a chance to struggle a bit and begin to define their personality. Personally, I'd do all the above things I’ve mentioned (plus help out the extended family), make arrangements for charity donations, and only then put what remains into a trust fund to only be accessed aged about 35. Call me tough, but I’ve become a stronger person through having to struggle a bit.

All TV cooks seem to work so quickly...in real life, we home cooks are rarely knife experts and we don't have everything prepped for us during a commercial break (all that chopping takes time. They usually aren't the ones really doing it. There's also a ton of editing in there).

Don't sweat it. As long as you make something yummy in the end, you win.

I like Nigella. She seems genuinely sweet and my husband enjoys watching it because it's like "food porn" (she's so crazy sexy).

If you have all the ingrediants on hand, measured and easily accessible, as well as no interruptions and appropriate bake ware, then you might get your dishes made in the listed time frame! I like Nigella Lawson....she looks "normal" to me and cooks in a rational manner, but I don't enjoy her food enough to purchase a cookbook.

My opinion is that TV is for entertainment, enjoyment, and education.

With regard to fast foods, remember, TV programmes can be edited to fit in with air time, but cooking can't.
Always ensure food is fully cooked, however long it takes, and use the TV as a guide only.

yeah, even rachel ray's 30 min meals...they're pretty hard to fit in 30 minutes.
the thing is they do this all the time, they are used to it and have their mise en place.

you have to take into consideration too that they have a lot of stuff prepped. even if it's just washed veggies. it still cuts that out of the prep time. you know?

oh and they have all their ingredients lul!
how many times have i got to make biscuits or something and realized i dont' have enough baking soda?

ooh i love watching nigella, cos she has this beautiful 'jordan baker' voice. just pleasant to hear.

Does it really matter if it is ten minutes or twenty? At the end if the result is good who wants to know how long was the warm up.

see they may only take ten mins to cook but what she fails to mention is the 2hours preperation time for all the stuff!

ive never been a big huge fan of hers.. but everyone needs to remember we dont all have a kitchen aid that lives with us to prep our food for us, so while it may take 10 mins to cook it prob takes much longer to prep

She makes it look easy but doesn't show the time it takes to find all the ingredients and prep it and also clear up after
