As far as wording that question, yea, I know it's terrible. But what I mean is, as far as censorship, like ridding of TV and internet blockers, watching R or PG-13 rated movies, etc. This sorts of stuff. I'm not a parent, but I am curious how other parents feel about this. I know parents who try to protect their kids until they are 18, and I feel they are too underexposed to life, then I know parents who don't protect their kids from that at all, and so fourth.

Just wanting to know your opinion on the matter.

I forgot to leave open the option, or not using these censoring devices at all.

My mom's raised me to watch R movies at age 5. I'm not traumatized or anything. When I was at my dad's I watched The Exorcist at age 4. I know bad words but I'll never say them! Once every few years I'll make an occasional slip, but I usually put my hands to my mouth and blush while feeling like I'm gonna puke. My mom brought out the sex education book when I was 10. So I know STD's and how to get them. I know that guys should always use condoms (in case STD's or pregnancy). My moms' saying,"Herpes, friend for life." I also know that oral sex is no safer than actual intercourse and beer tastes disgusting! I'm glad my family educated me. I know what to expect in the REAL world. And I know the world is full of stupid idiotic people.

If a movie is rated R and the child is 13 or 14, that child should not be watching it.

Parenting is very tough. You have to talk to them about things, listen and learn about music that you don't like, and keep them from watching things that are bad.

So, the answer is that the parent needs to know about what their child will watch and decide what they think is best.

Personally, I think 13 or 14. I have a feeling the consensus woud be higher - probably 16 or 17, which is unrealistic since by that age, they have already formed their adult identity, wet behind the ears or not.

I would say 13, because at that age they already know all that.
