It all depends on when the people you made the check out to cash it. once they go to the bank and deposit it, it should post immediately the same day to your account.

That is usually set by the state your bank is in. It also depends on if the check is local or not local. States allow banks to put a longer hold on out of state and non local checks.

If the merchant sends it electronically, it's instantaneous. If it goes through the mail it could take up to a week.
