Yes, I went through this. My situation showed cancer. It is very stressful, but you need to get on this. The earlier the better. If it isn't cancer you will be relieved. If it is cancer, you need to get on it right away.

If the mass only showed up on mammogram, chances are it wasn't palpable and is still very small.

The ultrasound will give a clearer idea of what you are dealing with, cycts and tumours often appear alike on mammograms.

Chances are still good that you are only dealing with a cyst.

If it is a tumour, you will probably have a fine needle biopsy or solid core biopsy to decide if it is benign or malignant.

Only once a tumour has been assessed as malignant will you be treated for cancer.

In this worse case scenario, the earlier you start tretment the better your chance of beating this.

This happens all the time. The ultrasound is to differentiate between a cystic or solid mass. Chances are good it is cystic, if you already had the Mammo and are going for the US. Good Luck!

Don't be freaked out. Go with an open mind. Take each day as it comes. That would be my advice.

Deal with what you have to deal with right at this moment. No point trying to prepare yourself or worrying about what's done. If you ask yourself if you can deal with what's going on right now, mostly the answer is 'yes' even when it gets bad.

Often the worrying is worse than what happens next. So be cool, be happy. No point worrying ahead of time.
