I start next week with my allergy shots and want to know if I need to continue taking Astelin and Flonase.

This needs to be discussed with the person prescribing the allergy shots. Depends on the allergy and the way the shots will work in your body.

Usually they do recommend that pre-therapy prescriptions are continued for a period of time until the body can de-sensitize from the allergen.

Be very careful if this is a fatal allergy. Do not stop taking your medication until you start to test negative on the skin test.

Good Luck!

Talk to the allergist or nurse administering the shot. When I took allergy shots, I was able to taper off my prescriptions and only took them as needed after a month or so of continuous shots. However, everyone is different. You may notice a difference after a couple of weeks. Just see how your body reacts and talk to the Dr about it.

Yes, because it may take two years or so for the allergy shots to start working.

I am sure the Dr. will let you know, ask him just in case.
