For if there are particular statements that are not generalizations, we require general or absolute statements to judge their truth or falsity - that in the same way that we need a tape measure of standard measuring units to measure a number of different objects of different length|

No. They aren't particularly Politically Correct, but there's a reason they are in place. Also, too many people get offended that a generalization means EVERYBODY in a certain category. It means in general Not everyone.
When I see someone who meets a certain generalization, I so badly want to say, "Hey dingy, thanks for perpetuating the stereotype!"
