Brother .. if you do not mind, there is a link that I found very helpful called " the Life study of the Bible"
This life study covers all the books of the bible from Gen to Rev and it studies the bible in a thorough way. Out of this sort of study there is a definate way to grow up into God.. to lay hold of the riches in the word and as an issue of this , there is such a blessing and weightiness to all the dear saints. This in turn builds up the body of Christ in a very lasting way.

I'll leave you the link.
ITs good to study topics but If you are willing to put the TIME into it then its best to get a bird's eye view of the whole bible in its proper context and revelation.

here is the link
and may our Lord bless all your labour of love

I would do it book by book or doctrinal. I prefer studying book by book. Everyone can gain wisdom and knowlege of God by studying the Bible in entire books. That is the best way to make sure nothing is taken out of context, and it is easier to bring in historical and culttural information to bring richness to the text.

I would go book by book giving life changing lessons and those that teach us how to deal with this profane world we live in.

with small children I would go by time line because they get confused when its all mixed up.
with older people I would ask the group how they would like to do the study it helps to get everyone involved
