Too late! It's 2007, now, and the Tribulation Period that leads to the Second Coming (which many regard mistakenly to be the "end of the world;" the world, according to the Bible, will NEVER end. [However, that'll take some Divine intervention, since the sun, without it, would probably burn out or blow up in about 8 billion more years, without it... ]) will be 7 years long. So tough luck for all those hawking 2012. It can't happen until AT LEAST 2014. (And it'll probably be much later than that.)

Jaekob,

From everything that we know from the Bible, it seems that 2011 may be the year in which Christ returns and the end of the world. The flood of Noah's day took place in 4990 BC. In 2 Peter 3, the Lord gives us some very imoratant information.... "Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?"

Please note that God speaks of the worldwide flood that destroyed every living thing on earth except the people and animals that were in the ark. Then God transitions to the end of the world which will be detroyed by fire. But verse 8 is very interesting.....1 day is with the Lord as 1000 years! If we go back to Genesis 7:4, God gives Noahh 7 days to get all the animals and his family into the ark before He will send the flood. Multiplying 7 X 1000 = 7000 years. Now add 7000 + 4990 BC = 2011 AD (there is no "0" year but we have to add 1 to the total because it is a place holder). It is also interesting that Jesus was most likely born on the Day of atonement (Oct 1, 07 BC), the Holy Spirit was poured out on Pentecost Sunday (33 AD), and there is a high liklihood that Jesus will return during the Feast of Tabernacles (Oct 2011).

Pay no regard to the Aztec calendar or the Chinese calendar. The Bible is where you want to look.

The Aztec calendar has nothing to do with 2012. It's the Mayan Long Count Calendar, and it doesn't end. Only Baktun 12 ends.
So if you are basing your "end of the world" scenario on the "ending" of the calendar, no, it's not going to happen.
The Chinese book is the I-Ching and it's an oracle. It's not a calendar and it's got nothing to do with calendars and it can't predict anything having to do with a specific date.
If you look at global warming and war, well, maybe the world will end.

No. They are getting that from some of the stuff that's out there about the Mayan calendar, which is NOT saying that it will be the end of the world. It's only pointing to a change of an Age.

. . . . or Aztec.
