Okay, so there's a whole long drawn-out story that I won't give you...The end result is that my daughter's fiance has a best man, 3 "groomsmen" and 1 "usher". We're expecting between 180 & 220 people at the wedding. I'm a little concerned that one usher won't be enough. Do you think we need to "recruit" the other groomsmen to work as ushers?

Yes, you need atleast 2. But if you can get three that would be even better.
I am having around 100 guests and having two ushers.
This way no one enters and sits where they should not.
Always have someone at the door greeting them and asking them to hold on to be seated.
Good luck

Traditionally, all of the men are supposed to act as ushers, including the best man... so you actually have 5 ushers. And also, statistically you should only expect about 75% of the people you invite to actually attend the wedding. I would say if you desperately need more ushers, use the bridesmaids as well. I wouldnt "recruit" groomsmen. It is supposed to be an honor to be a groomsmen, not just a job.

I would say you need at least 2 ushers. Can you recruit someone else, even if it from the bride's side of the family? I wouldn't give the groomsmen double duty. They need to be placed at the front with the groom and then need exit with the bridesmaids while the ushers stay behind to escort grandparents. Best wishes!

I think with a wedding that big that you will want at least 2 ushers. I would ask the groomsmen to do so.

I think you will need at least two ushers.
I guess you could use the groomsmen, they could double up, and work as ushers instead of standing there looking pretty with the groom. But then you might end up with the groom standing all alone and feeling nervous. He needs his boys around him. I would recruit another family member, maybe a younger cousin or something. Sounds like a big wedding so I think you might need at least two.

Yes, the groomsmen should also act as ushers.

Most definitely YES! With the amount of guests you are expecting, one is NOT enough. My son had about 100 at his and there were 2 ushers. I think it's best to have too many than not enough! Good luck!

You need two ushers to do the seating at the reception. Because one will be leading people to the pews, and the other can be greeting another family and taking them to their seats.
Otherwise, people would have to wait too long at the entrance.
Don't have a groomsman do it, just ask another friend or cousin or someone.
