not a marine but an army guy. We have been married for 2 in a half years and he is deployed at this very moment. in my personal opinion if you like or love this guy it shouldnt matter whether he is a marine or not. dont get me wrong its tough to date a military guy but it just means that we are stronger than most ppl...

ok, first sinleslie, if he showed up to your friend's door in dress WHITE's, then he's a Navy squid, not a Marine. There can be plenty of success dating a Marine, but you have to be the kind of girl who doesn't mind their guy being gone for long spaces of time. Also, if he goes on a float in the Med. or Pacific, try not to think about the bar girls he hangs out with, which he WILL, they ALL do. It's nothing personal, it's just what happens, there's no attachment in it. And also be ready for him to get killed. Statistically it's not likely, but statistics don't work in combat. As depressing as all that sounds, be happy that unless he's a POG, you'll have a pretty in-shape guy to show off..

My sister has been dating her marine for two years now. He's a great guy that uses any time off he has to come back and visit her. Her biggest fear is if he has to go overseas that hasn't happened yet.
The best thing was when she graduated, he came home to surprise her and showed up at the door in his dress whites. The complete image of Officer and a Gentlman. :-D

I would say that to date one is great, but be prepared for what comes with it. We are in a time of war. Support him the best you can and know that he is going to be deployed 90% of the time.
