Not necessary. Offer to buy a bottle of wine at the restaurant & offer a nice toast.

Depends how close you are. The fact that your're meeting them for dinner so soon after the engagement likely means you see alot of each other and are good friends as well as cousins. So, if your finances permit it, a gift would be a lovely idea, but I'm sure she doesn't expect one and won't feel hurt if you don't get her one. Maybe you could buy them a drink at dinner to celebrate the happy news.

If I were you and had the funds, buy a bottle of wine. If you can't afford a bottle then have a glass of wine at the bar and treat them to that along with a toast. You will be buying a gift for the bridal shower and I honestly feel like that is sufficient. An engagement card would be appropriate.

Why would you take a gift; and if you did, what kind of a gift would you take? Makes no sense. Go to the dinner and celebrate the engagement with them. If you want to sport them with a bottle of wine, that's fine; but don't compromise the evening with a gift.

yes, a card and a small gift would be nice, as you have been invited to celebrate this event with them and a gift is tradition. the gift is usually a household item for an engagemet, anything from a dinnar service to a pretty photo frame, i'd go for a nice peice of china, cups or something that they can collect.

No, it's just a celebration dinner. You could maybe take her a token like a couple of bridal magazines, but it isn't really a gift giving occasion.

A gift at this time is not necessary. Even if you just have water at the table, offer a nice toast, "Congratulations to you both!" will be more than fine.
Have fun!

You don't have to. I usually give only one gift per wedding. If you are invited to a bridal shower, the wedding, or a reception, that would be a time to give a gift.

i think buying a round and toasting to the couple will suffice. wait until they plan an official engagement party or until the actual wedding to gift them.
